"Madelyn, just the person I was looking for," Veronica said, walking up to where Madelyn sat—alone, in a booth at pop's.
"Veronica," Manic rolled her eyes, "just the person I wasn't looking for."
Veronica ignored her comment.
"My friend from New York is in town and I'm throwing a little soirée tonight, and Cheryl insisted I invite you. So, ten o'clock, at the Five Seasons?"
Manic smirked, knowing that if Cheryl insisted then she was definitely going.
"I'll be there at eleven."

Madelyn and Cheryl got ready at Thornhill before taking driving to the Five Seasons.
Madelyn wore her hair in waves, with a black bandeau top, a dark green mini skirt, and black heels.
"I still don't understand why I had to go to this stupid party," Madelyn whinnied as they made their way down the hallway and to Nick St.Claire's room.
"Because you're pinning after a guy who barely gives you the time of day. It's been how long? And all he's done is call you his girl. Hasn't even kissed you yet. You need to show him what he's really missing out on."
"And how does this show him that?"
"You'll find out soon, Maddie." Cheryl said, smirking.
She had the perfect plan. Get Maddie to flirt with either Reggie or the man of the hour himself, snap a pic, and send it Sweet Pea's way. Maybe then, he'd finally gain the guts to make a move on the redhead.
"Fine."
The duo walked in without knocking, catching the attention of the teens in the room— Veronica Lodge, Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Josie McCoy, Reggie Mantle, and who they presumed to be Nick St.Clair.
Cheryl reveled in the attention thrown their way, while Madelyn smirked and winked at the dark haired New Yorker.
Cheryl was right. Sweet Pea had barely given her anything more than a pet name. It was time for her to show him what he was missing out on.
Madelyn took the spot next to Nick on the couch and quickly started up a conversation with him, while Cheryl took the spot next to her.
"And then, we walk into the Gilded Lily, and there's Gal, again."
"Gal?" Archie asked, attempting—and failing—to whisper.
"Gadot. God, Archie, keep up."
"Archiekins, a refill, sil-tu plaît?"
Ignoring the side conversation, Manic turned back to Cheryl.
"I'll be right back," she whispered into her ear, before getting up and making her way toward the bathroom.
Locking the door behind her, she sighed before pulling out her phone.
There were no new messages.
Madelyn couldn't help but be disappointed at the fact that Sweet Pea hadn't texted her. As much as she tried to act like she didn't care that they weren't official—hell, they hadn't even discussed what they were, much less being official—Madelyn couldn't help the sadness she felt.
Loosing Jason destroyed her, and for the first time since his death she felt happy for more than a fleeting moment.
She felt safe.
But none of that mattered if her feelings weren't returned, and even though it was clear that Sweet Pea felt the same way, she didn't see it.
Madelyn took a deep breath before putting her phone back into her skirts' waist band. Reapplying her slightly faded lipstick, she took one last look in the mirror before returning to the small party.

The group of teens were all staring at Betty Cooper, the girl having a more than slightly pissed off look on her face.
"I said no, Vee."
Veronica was clearly offended by the way the girl spoke to her, a matching look on her face as she replied.
"Okay, relax, Betty, this is strictly voluntary."
Madelyn, who was very confused at this point, took her seat next to Cheryl and Nick again.
Nick threw an arm around her carelessly, no one noticing the immediate discomfort that flashed across her face.
"Perhaps we should decamp to the bedroom, so as not to corrupt the country mice."
Madelyn could tell he was poking fun at the fact that Betty said no to whatever they were doing, and she honestly couldn't care.
"You know what?" Archie spoke up, jealously brewing in him, "I changed my mind. I'm in."
"Bravo, Archie Andrews! There's that good, strong riverdale jock I've been jonesing for!"
Nick then pulled out a stick of JJ, handing it over to Archie, who then threw it back.
After watching the male take the drug, the New Yorker turned to the redhead next to him, offering a stick of the drug to her as well.
Madelyn had a mental debate before taking the JJ from him, copying Archie and throwing it back, too.
From there, the party picked up its pace. All of the teens, minus Betty, having no choice but to be happy and laidback as their bodies digested the drug—and the other doses they consumed.
Josie and Reggie were off in the corner dancing with each other, the same with Archie and Veronica. While Manic sat on Nick's lap, the pair making out sloppily as Cheryl went from group to group, either joining the pair dancing or sneaking a picture and sending it to the serpent boy who—in her opinion—was messing with her friends' feelings.
Betty Cooper sat silent in her seat, a haunted look on her face as she watched the teens around her take stick after stick of the gateway drug Jingle Jangle. She was upset about how easily they all took it, yes—but the panic set deep in her gut was not because of that.
Veronica Lodge was her next step. Her next 'mission' from the Black Hood, and today was the day she would have to cut her from her life.
Manic pulled back from Nick, her hair messy from his hands running through it, and glanced at the blonde.
Sliding slightly off Nick's lap, she stared at Betty until the blonde noticed.
"What's got your panties in a bunch?" She sneered, the drug in her system making her not only more carefree but also—somehow—more bitchy.
Betty rolled her eyes, something the redhead found to be uncharacteristic. The last thing she needed right now was for the bitchy twin sister of her boyfriend to be on her case.
Nick, who had wrapped his arm around Manic's waist and grabbed her thigh with his other hand, joined the redhead with questioning the blondes attitude.
"Oh, come on, Betty. It's a party, have a little fun."
Manic dazedly nodded along with the New Yorkers words, Betty noticing the glazed over look in her eyes and becoming worried as Nick put another stick of jingle jangle into the girls hand.
"I'm good," Betty muttered, dismissing her worry as Madelyn took the drug with no hesitation.
Manic rolled her eyes, said "whatever", and went back to making out with the dark haired male.
Betty shifter uncomfortably in her seat, drawing her eyes away from the two as they busied themselves with attempting to shove their tongues down each others throats.
It stayed that way for the next half hour, until the pair finally stood from their spot on the couch and joined the others dancing.
Manic started to grind on Nick—similar to how Josie and Veronica were dancing on their companions—while Cheryl joined the duo and started to dance with Madelyn as well.
