A loud shot rang throughout the palace. It's here. The final battle has begun.

~ Kayla, Shades of Choice

...

Tristen and I were sitting  on the beach watching the sunrise. The rain had luckily stopped so it was sunny now. My head is resting on his shoulder and he has an arm around me.

"So what now?" I ask.

He shrugs.

"You can't stay here. Your still getting into trouble. You're no better here than you were back in Spruce Grove."

He nods. "I can't. I know and moving to a different city isn't going to help because the same thing will just happen. So really, what do I do?" he asks frowning. "I feel like I've disappointed you."

I sigh. "...I'm not disappointed. I'm just worried about you. I want you to be safe," I say.

He looks down. "Yeah..."

"And I don't want to have to spend two months away from you again. That was torture. I missed you so much."

He smiles a bit at me. "I missed you too. I would think of your smiling face to get me through the day when things sucked."

I smile a little. "Well maybe you could move back to Spruce Grove. You could stay with me for a bit until we figure out something out. I don't know what else we could do," I say.

"Do you have enough money for the both of us to get on a plane back there?" he asks.

I nod. "I brought enough just in case. besides, I got my bail money back since the charges were dropped."

"How much money do you have?" he asks surprised.

"Well..I did get a job, but most of it I robbed from my mom's safe in the basement."

"Wow. You didn't have to do all this for me," he says.

"Yeah but what other choice did I have? I wasn't going to let you rot in there," I say.

"Thanks. I really appreciate it," he says kissing me on the cheek.

"Welcome."

We watch the sunrise a bit longer before we start to head to the airport.

....

Tristen and I were sitting on the airplane. He had an earbud in his ear and I had the other in mine. We were listening to One Direction as usual. He was staring out the window looking at the clouds. The clouds look so cool from up here. I rest my head on his shoulder. He glances over at me and a smile comes to his face.  He takes my phone and pauses the music.

"Hey," I smile.

"Hey." He kisses my nose and I squeal.

He giggles. "Your so adorable."

"Am not!" I protest crossing my arms.

"Yes you are."

I roll my eyes giving in easily. "Fine. Okay. I'm adorable."

He laughs.

I love the way his laugh sounds. It was nice seeing him so happy. I'd missed that laugh.

"So a while ago you mentioned that you had an ex girlfriend.."

He nods. "That's true."

"Can I hear about her?" I ask curiously. I had never really heard the story of his ex girlfriend. It probably wasn't the best Idea to ask now but I couldn't help asking. I'm curious.

He leans against the headrest. "I haven't thought about her in a while."

"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it."

"No, no. It's fine." He takes a deep breath.

I hold his hand and he smiles at me looking like he felt a bit better.

I didn't want to make him feel weird about talking about this and make the conversation really awkward. It's a bit of a touchy subject. Maybe I shouldn't have asked in the first place. Oops.

He starts speaking. "Well let's start from the beginning. Her name was Kayla...."

There was no way! No way! How was that possible? It shouldn't be. It's not! How can it be? There is no way that could be possible.

Maybe this is really just a coincidence but It'd have to be a pretty big coincidence. However, as he explains how they met, their first kiss again, how long they dated, why they broke up it's almost exactly identical. The parts that weren't identical were the fantasy elements of the story

This couldn't be real. I mean sure, I thought he was a fictional character before but that was more of a comparison.

"You okay Skylar?" he asks suddenly worried.

I am not okay! My boyfriend is a fictional character and I don't know how.

I'm dreaming. I never actually went to Vancouver and bailed Tristen out. I'm in bed and I'm going to wake up any moment now.

I pinch myself in the arm to wake up however it hurts.

I'm awake. How am I awake? There is no way I can be awake right now because what I'm hearing is impossible.

"I'm fine," I say. I put a earbud back in. "I'm going to sleep for a bit."

He nods. "Okay."

We spend the rest of the plane ride in silence as I think about this.

I'm dating my dream book boyfriend but I don't even know how that could even be possible.

.....

My recurring dream starts to play out again as I fall asleep.

The dark woods fills me with an eerie sense that something was about to go wrong.

I already knew that since I've lived through this dream so many times. My body shakes with every step I take as my feet stung at the touch of pine needles on my feet.

All I want to do is stop but I know if I do, he'll get me.

Even though I've had this dream so many times before, something about this time felt different.

This time, I decide to look behind me, only to realize no one was behind me.

I could swear I was being chased but no was there.

I stop for a moment to take a breath but as I turn around, I'm met with a man who's cloak was hiding his face.

"Who are you?" I choke as I notice the knife in his hand.

The man turns into a boy right before my eyes as he removes the hood and I realize I know him.

It's Tristen.

"I'm sorry," He says as he creates a gust of wind, strong enough to knock me out and throws it at me.

.....

Hey guys! Bit of a shorter chapter but a lot happened. I hope you guys liked it. What do you think is going to happen next? We're so close to the end which is crazy. This chapter took me a bit longer due to the big reveal of is Tristen fictional or not. I'll try to post the next to chapters tonight if I can finish writing them. Hopefully I can! Anyways. I hope you all have a great day!
