Chapter 14: The Failed Coup

It's almost 2 weeks now since Andro got injured.  He and his companions were still puzzled how the coup turned out to be a failure.  It's been a month long plan made by his group, and they were already all set in a strategic spot to effectively carry out the bombing plot of a local prison late in the evening. Their messenger, Emil, was the one in-charge of overseeing the activities inside prison for he is a hired janitor of the place.  Jail guards had known him, so he gets in and out easily.  His role is only to provide a signal before they could start the surprise attack.  It was already 10:00 in the evening. Andro and his team were all ready.  Their clothes were all black and their faces are wrapped with black cloth.  They were seeing Emil from a distance doing his usual chores of sweeping the alley of the prison cell.  He was cleaning for 30 minutes and they were all waiting for the code sign he was expected to give. To their surprise, he just left the entrance door of the place without giving a cue of the situation.  So, the group got alarmed of his actions and still, decided to wait for another 5 minutes.  Then, a huge boom sound was heard.  To their astonishment, the market place was burning which is right behind the prison building.  So, one of his companions went out to check.  As he returned, two prison guards already caught him and holding him on his collar.  From the site of it, everyone went on to rescue which then started the rampage.  Andro, on the other hand, in spite of everyone going berserk wanted to push through the bombing.  He gets the improvised bomb inside the sack, lighted a match and was now ready to fire the wick and then throw it on the prison window.  Suddenly, someone kicked him on the back and caused him to fall on the ground.  It was another prison guard who saw what he was doing so they had a knife fight.  Andro was a bit disadvantaged for he can't move smoothly.  His ankle got injured after the fall and now, he's having difficulty of evading the moves of the opponent. To his surprise, one side of his abdomen got hit by the opponent and he was seized by him.  Andro still fought back to prevent him from uncovering his face and in a few moments, the guard collapsed all of a sudden.  Then, Mario came to the scene.  He was the one who hit the guard on the head.  The two of them hastily escaped and sought refuge on one of their companion's hide out.  Luckily, no one died in the incident.  Only five of them got hurt and Emil at that time, didn't return to their agreed meeting place.  All of them who were involved in the commotion stayed in the retreat until dawn.  They were all very cautious in dispersing themselves one by one so no one would suspect on what had happened to them.  That was then when Andro went home limping.
