"Layne! Open the door, you bitch!" I screamed frantically when there were no sounds coming from the bathroom anymore. I scrambled with the keys again, trying to find the right one that would open the bathroom door, but to no avail. My heart was hammering like crazy.
"Babe, you ok? What's with the screaming?" Matt said hoarsely, suddenly as he climbed the stairs, his eyes squinting against the hallway lights.
Before I could say anything, I heard the door downstairs slammed shut and footsteps were bounding up the stairs. I looked up and saw Wes panting as he ran up, two stairs at a time. His eyes and hair wild as he looked at me. His face was red and he was breathless. He rushed to me and held my arms.
"Are you ok? What happened?" Wes asked frantically.
"It's Layne. She's in there and she sounded like she was hurt. And now I couldn't hear anything. She might be dead! Oh my God!" I cried in anguish as I started to shake from fear.
"Okay, just relax. I'll get the door open, alright." Wes assured me as he held my arms tight. I nodded quickly. Wes then let go of me and stepped back. He then rammed himself against the door. The door didn't budge. He rubbed his sore shoulder and stepped back a bit and rammed it again. It creaked, but still stayed close. He wanted to ram it again when Matt joined him. He glanced at Matt with a frown. Matt just shrugged and sang in a stupidly high voice as he stared at Wes.
"What's gonna work? Teamwork!" Wes just scowled at him and Matt shrugged. Then both of them rammed against the door again. I was pass caring about the door being damaged. There was loud crack, but it still didn't open. Both Matt and Wes took deep breaths and rammed the door again with a loud grunt. It flew open and both guys almost stumbled head first to the bathroom wall, but stopped just in time. I rushed into the bathroom and saw, to my horror, Layne was lying on the bathroom floor unconscious and white as a sheet. There was a bleeding cut above her left eyebrow. Wes quickly knelt down and felt for her pulse on her arm.
"She's still alive but her pulse is pretty weak." Wes said worriedly. Matt suddenly pushed himself to the front and just hoisted Layne up into his arms and carried her out of the bathroom. Wes and I quickly followed him. We ran down the stairs and was met by a very sleepy but pretty sober Frankie. He rubbed his eyes and looked at all of us.
"Hey guys. What's going on?" He looked at us with sleepy eyes.
"Layne's hurt." I said simply as we ran out of the house. Wes went to his car and opened the backseat door. Matt put Layne down on the seat and I climbed on the other side, cradling her head on my lap.
"We'll be right behind you!" Matt said and I nodded. Wes started his car and zoomed out the driveway and into main road. He drove in silence. I was too busy with my thoughts to care about Wes' questioning looks. About 10 minutes later, we arrived at the hospital. Wes parked his car and got out. He opened my door and helped carry Layne to the emergency room. Frankie and Matt were close at our heels.

I sighed with relief when Layne was finally wheeled into the emergency area. Just then, a nurse beckoned me to the reception area. I went there and explained our parents were out of state and that we would call if there was anything the parents needed to know. When I have checked her in, all four of us waited anxiously for Layne.
Wes was sitting beside me. He was leaning his head against the wall, like he was dead tired. I fidgeted awkwardly.
"Wes. Thanks for coming when I called. I don't know what would happen if you hadn't." I said quietly. I felt he turned his face to me. I resisted the urge to look at him. I miss him. But I had to bury all that because he wanted nothing to do with me.
