Chapter 9

Tia POV:

I was feeling a little bit better after Kaleo took care of me. I was able to get out of bed but I still felt light headed, I still had a cough, a sore throat, and a runny nose. I walked into the living room and saw Kaleo asleep on the couch he wasn't kidding when he said he was sleeping in the living room. I went in the kitchen and made some tea. I put the kettle on the stove and let that heat up, I couldn't eat anything solid so I skipped breakfast. The kettle started to whistle and woke up Kaleo, I took the kettle off the stove and heard Kaleo groan.

"Morning Kaleo"

"Morning Tia, how are you feeling?"

"Well my head isn't pounding, my throat is still sore, my nose is still stuffy, and I still have a cough but other than that I can move"

"That's good to hear. What are you making in there?"

"Tea, want some?"

"Sure" I poured the hot water into two cups and put in the tea bags. Kaleo walked into the kitchen and I handed him his tea, "Thank you" I nodded I took of my tea and let it soothe my throat, "Kaleo"

"Yeah"

"Thank you for taking care of me"

"Of course, I'm here for you Tia" he said with all seriousness in his voice I smiled and continued to drink my tea, I took some medicine to help me. Kaleo offered to do things for me that I couldn't do. He told me to relax so that I could get better. I let him help me and take care of me again until I fell asleep.

Around lunch time I got up and Kaleo was heating up the soup on the stove.

"Don't tell me you brought that whole pot of soup"

"Is it bad if I did?"

"No it's just that, that's a lot" Kaleo smiled and handed me my bowl, "Here"

"Thanks" we sat down and started to eat making small talk as well, "I think this would be a way better date in my opinion" Kaleo stated. I chuckled but agreed.

"Well if that's what you want it to be. Let's get to know each other" I suggested

"Alright but only for a little bit then you're going right back to sleep" he said 

"I will don't worry, what was your favorite childhood memory?" I asked

"Me and my friend were playing a stupid game, I told him to do something and he actually took me seriously and did it"

"What did you guys do?"

"I dared him to go to a stranger and act as if that was their parent. We were kolohe kids back then. What about you Tia?"

"Cory and I were card boarding down a hill, we were racing each other. I don't know how we did it but we slid our boards towards each other and started to bump each other in the end we both flew off the cardboard and rolled in the grass laughing"

Kaleo and I were getting to know a lot about each other.

"I'm in love with this Portuguese bean soup"

Kaleo chuckled at my praise for his cooking and sat down, "Glad you like it"

"Who taught you how to make it?" I asked

"My Dad" I went silent for a few minutes. Kaleo and I shared a look, "You share first" I said. Kaleo took in a deep breath and let it out slowly and shared his story about his dad even though I heard it from Kayla I wanted to hear it from Kaleo since he sounded like he was closer to his dad. After he finished I shared my story about my dad with him even though I broke down and as sick as I was, Kaleo hugged me and comforted me even when I told him he would get sick.

"I don't care whether I get sick or not. As long as your ok like I said I'm always here for you" 

I sniffled and slightly pulled away, "Thanks Kaleo" He just nodded and smiled at me. We finished up dinner and Kaleo made me take my medicine again before going to bed. I laid down and looked at him, "Did you do this for your sister when she was sick?"

"Yeah, all the time. I still do it to this day"

I smiled, "You're a good brother" I started to doze off and I knew that the medication was working. I fell asleep and I felt Kaleo place the blankets on me, I felt him place a kiss on my forehead before turning off the lights and leaving.
