The lights are turned way down low.

The red, yellow and orange glow of the fire reflected in the window, and she couldn't help but worry (if only for a second) about the mess of blankets and empty hot chocolate mugs that was scattered around it. They'd had a long day of wrapping presents for family and friends, but it was time for the future Mr. and Mrs. Kiermaier to relax, taking a moment for themselves.

That's when it started.

Daniela watched, helplessly and haplessly, as the snow kept falling outside her window. It was pretty inexplicable to have snow in Florida any time of year, but especially not around Christmastime.

She didn't feel the presence behind her, but she heard her fiancé's voice. "Christmas miracle, huh?"

She twirled around and smiled up at Kevin. "It would be, if it was Christmas."

"Alright, fine. A two-days-before-Christmas miracle -- doesn't have the same sort of ring to it, though, huh?"

Daniela wrinkled her nose at him. "You don't get to be so rude to me on Christmas."

"Two days before Christmas, like you were so quick to remind me." Kevin nudged her, before wrapping an arm around her to hold her closer. "Can't believe it, though."

"The snow?"

"Yes, but no."

"Explain." She replied.

He took a deep breath, before doing just that. "Just the year we've had, you and me. Between all those surprise visits on the road, to our trip to South America, to this," he held up her hand, playing with the diamond ring on her finger. "It's been pretty eventful."

Daniela couldn't help the blush that crept up on her cheeks, reaching higher and higher. "You can say that again."

He made a noise in the back of his throat. "Do I have to? I mean, I don't think I'd remember it all, but for you, I'll do it -- we've had a pretty eventful year, you and me--"

"Kevin. You're such a clown."

"True, but I'm the clown you love and you're going to marry. You're going to be the wife of a clown." Kevin reminded her, laughing.

She frowned, arching an eyebrow. "Maybe we should call off the wedding?"

"You're such a little --"

"Angel?" Daniela tried, batting her eyelashes at him, the face of innocence.

How could he argue with that?

He pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Not the word I was looking for, but sure. Let's go with that."

Kevin rested his head atop hers, bringing his beloved girl closer to him. They stayed there, watching the snow fall and it would have been a moment tailor-made for a Hallmark card, too, if Daniela didn't knock him in the ribs with her elbow.

"Hey!" He said, trying to rub the pain away. He wasn't that afflicted and couldn't help but chuckle.

Daniela looked at him. "You know exactly what that was for, you little clown."

Kevin went to press another kiss to her cheek, but she moved away, playing coy with him. He wasn't having any of that, though, and took her face in both of his hands. When she was looking at him, with stars aglow in her eyes, he brought his face down to hers before pressing a sweet kiss to her lips.

"I love you, Daniela." He said, sincerely.

Daniela sighed, lovingly. "I love you too, Kevin. Merry Christmas."

He couldn't help but remind her.

"Two days before Christmas."

"Be quiet. The sentiment's the same."

And it was.
