Chapter 11

"Julia!"

I turned my head into Aryan's chest and groaned. I was so tired and hungry and I didn't feel good. The last thing I wanted to do was wake up.

"Julia, we're home."

"Oh, my gosh. Aryan, what... what happened?" That was Lucy. Was I really home after all?

Aryan's voice was low when he spoke and I knew he didn't want me to hear him. "Let's talk later. She needs healed."

"Take her up to my room. I'll get Kellan."

Aryan went inside the house and headed up the stairs. When he walked past his room, he stopped. "What the hell did you do to my room?"

"Desperate times call for desperate measures." I mumbled, patting his arm.

He sighed and went into Lucy's room. He laid me down on the bed. "I'm gonna get you something to change into-"

"Don't you dare leave me." I said, grabbing on to his arm so he couldn't leave.

"Lucy has clothes in her closet. I don't have to go far."

"But I can't see you."

He helped me to my feet. "What do you want? I think Lucy has some t-shirts somewhere in her closet."

"Can I have one of your shirts?"

"My room is a mess-"

"Please."

He sighed. "Alright. Come on." He helped me into his room then let go of my hand to climb over the mess of furniture and clothes.

"Wait, what are you doing?"

"Julia, I'm not having you trip and hurt yourself."

"Well you're certainly not leaving me here by myself."

"I'm only going two feet into the room."

I wanted so badly to glare at him but glaring at no one would have caused embarrassment and I didn't want to deal with that at the moment. "Please, Aryan. The last time I left you alone, you disappeared."

He took my hand again. "Fine. But I'm not cleaning your blood out of my carpet."

"Wanna bet?"

He sighed. "You owe me for this."

"Just be glad I cared enough to look for you, okay? I could have just went about my business and-"

"Okay, okay. I get it." He guided my steps then told me to stand still as he dug through the pile of clothes. He handed over several articles of clothing before he guided me back to the door.

"See? Now was that so hard?"

He grumbled but said nothing.

I smiled and went back to Lucy's room with him.

"It's not working." Lucy said, sighing. She was frustrated, I could tell. She was trying to heal me but it wasn't working. I was still blind and still... I didn't even know what was wrong with me.

"What do we do then?" Aryan asked.

"I need to call Dr. Warren."

"From the hospital? Are you crazy?" I said.

"Julia, he's the only person I trust-"

"I don't like him. I don't like doctors at all."

"He's harmless." I knew Kellan was rolling his eyes as he spoke.

"The answer is no."

Lucy sighed. "I don't know how to help you. I can't heal you and I don't know why."

"Just think about it." Kellan said.

I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Do you think Holden would know what to do?"

"Who's Holden?"

"Wait, Holden's here?" Aryan asked, excitement in his voice.

"Who's Holden?" I asked, raising my voice so they'd answer my question first.

"Holden's a friend of mine. I asked him to come and help me find you." Lucy said.

"Can't he 'inspect' me?"

"He's not a doctor, Julia."

"Why does it have to be him? Why can't it be anyone else? I mean, I forgave you and Kellan but I can't forgive him and his followers."

Lucy sighed and she left the room, practically storming out. I knew she was upset as she was trying to do everything she could for me. But I had to make my own decisions about myself.

"Can you get me something to eat?" I mumbled, squeezing Aryan's hand.

"Ice cream?"

I smiled. "This is the only time you'll ever hear me say this but no. Surprise me, chef."

He kissed my cheek before he got to his feet and left, leaving Kellan and I alone.

"I've never seen Lucy so scared." Kellan said, moving to sit on the bed.

"Lucy doesn't get scared."

"She doesn't like being vulnerable. There's a difference with her."

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why would Lucy... Why would she care?"

"Julia, she's your mother-"

"Who I haven't seen for sixteen years."

"Do you really think she stopped caring about you? She sent you somewhere she could keep tabs on you. When you disappeared, she called everyone she knew to try and find you."

"It didn't work." I wasn't mad at Lucy. I knew she had been trying to find me. But it didn't work. It wasn't good enough.

If she had really loved me, why didn't she try to find me?

Kellan sighed and I could tell two things: he was mad at me and he didn't want to deal with me anymore.

I didn't blame him.

"Can you see if Aryan's done yet?" I asked in a lighter tone. I didn't want to be alone but I also didn't think Kellan wanted to be with me any longer.

"Yeah. I'll be back."

I got to my feet and managed to walk to the hallway. I felt my way to my room andwent inside. I shut the door and collapsed on the bed, a line of tears and messy hair in front of me.
