Second half of last chapter ❤
"Not good enough?" The grandmother looked at him as if she just heard the stupidest thing on the planet. "My beautiful grandson, you are far from that." She soothes his back while pulling out a small box from her purse. "I want you to know that you are very loved and to show that, I got you something you might enjoy." The pale blue box was the size of his palm, the snowflake decorations clearly homemade. "Open it."
Jungkook wiped his snot stained hands on the ends of his sweater, picking up the tiny present with the upmost caution. He reveled in the detail, fingertips lightly tracing every flake. It was easy to pull open the lid, revealing a silver necklace with a small hoop at it's center. "Nan... isn't this your...?" He was speechless and a little confused.
She nods in response, temporarily taking back the gift. "There's a story behind that, you know." She pulled out the silver chain from it's confines and admires the craftmanship in the lamp light. "Your grandpa and I met at a very young age, younger than you in fact." She chuckled, pressing the gift to her chest. "We hated each other, fighting all the time. Somewhere along the line we fell in love, surprising everyone including ourselves. We decided to get married, and our parents opposed, saying we were too young and foolish. So, we planned to elope."
"Elope?" Jungkook's eyes and mouth were wide open, he's never heard this story before.
His grandmother laughed again, continuing. "Yes Jungkook, we couldn't wait for our parent's approval when we wanted to be together." She sighs, playing with the necklace in her hand. "So we moved here, to Busan, and had a small wedding in a courthouse. We were so happy, it didn't matter if everyone else was disappointed in us. We bought a house using both of our savings and lived here raising your mom and uncle."
"That's cute grandma but what does that have to do with the necklace?"
"Well we didn't have a lot of money because most of it went to the wedding and the house. Your grandfather proposed to me with that necklace, saying he would get me a real ring when he had enough money."
"Did he?"
She smiled, putting the gift back in the box. "Yes but for some reason it wasn't as valuable as this..." She looked past the present, into her fond memories of them together. "I wanted to give it to you, in case you found someone as important to you, someone to spend your life in harmony."
"Oh grandma... this has too much meaning to you, I can't-"
"Take it my sugar kookie, you were meant to have it anyways." After much internal debate the younger takes the prized possession, knowing exactly who to give it to.
"Thank you so much nan, I love you."
"I love you too baby, don't you ever forget that." The brunette wanted to cry again, feeling cherished by one of his favorite people in the universe.
"I won't." He puts the small gift in his jacket pocket, sliding on the article of clothing. "Can you keep everyone else busy? I need to go somewhere really quick." She nods, waving him off before before he sneaks out.
It's fucking cold. The wind blew especially hard when he exited the back door as quietly as he could. Gift in hand, he drove to Taehyung's place. It would've been easier to talk with Jimin if he still lived at their place but ever since Taehyung confessed, it no longer felt appropriate. Just another way to make this whole situation infuriating.
The brunette felt his nerves creep up on him, hands dampening. How could he even get Jimin alone with Taehyung's entire family staring them down? The ride to the red head's house was quick, but there was no parking in front. He wasn't planning to be seen by any of the partying members regardless so it was easier to park a block away. The walk gave Jungkook time to think before he pulled out the gift. He wanted to see it once more to give him a surge of courage.
It turns out it wouldn't be needed when he neared the three story house blasting music. A Christmas song was playing. Expected? Yes. But he wasn't prepared for the scene behind the glass. In the middle of the living room was the familiar mop of blond hair swaying to the beat with Taehyung holding him close. They were all smiles, giggling to the fact that neither of them knew how to slow dance.
They were happy.
So happy that Jungkook felt out of place. He wanted to reach out and pull his small bundle of happiness away from the teen.
When the song ended, everyone around them cheered. They pulled apart, shy grins permanently glued on their faces only to find out they were both underneath the mistletoe. No. No. Jungkook tried to look away, knowing that the scene unfolding in front of him will be all he sees when he closes his eyes. But everyone continued to chant "kiss, kiss, kiss!" and the younger could only blame himself when he saw them lean in. He could only blame the past version of him that knew he adored Jimin, knew that his life changed when they met. He wanted to bang on the window, demanding they stop but could only stay frozen when their lips met. The necklace threatening to break in his clenched fist no longer held any value as he walked away from the intimate display of affection. He knew this would backfire. There is no way he could compete with one of Jimin's longest friends. He felt torn apart by all the feelings stretching him in different directions. He was a fool to dream of their happily ever after. A complete fool.
The crisp snow crunching under the younger's black boots was supposed to be easier to focus on than thinking about Taehyung's and Jimin's kiss. However, it wasn't a powerful enough distraction when his mind kept reeling back to the pair of plush lips meeting. He will never be the same.

The car ride that shouldn't have been more than five minutes became twenty five. There isn't anything harder than to drive with overflowing tears in your eyes, tears that won't disappear no matter how many times your hand comes up to wipe them away. Jungkook had to stop on the side of the road, banging his head on the wheel. Why did he have to feel this way about someone who didn't look at him the same way he did? Why did his feelings betray him at the worst possible moment, choosing to come to light when it was already too late? The necklace he forgot to put away kept digging into his skin but he tightened his grip further. He didn't want to feel this heartbreak anymore, he was tired of it. He wanted to feel a different type of pain, one that he knew could never overcome the tear in his heart.
Jungkook stayed in the car, the heat gradually escaping to numb the younger's skin. He should leave and enter his house. His family is probably worried sick but he can't seem to care less right now. After another twenty minutes, his fingertips began to feel tingly, a sign he should go now before he risks an injury. His body took over, every movement towards his home screamed monotonous. Of course they tried to ask questions as soon as he closed the front door. But the tear stained cheeks and flushed eyes gave them a warning sign to back away. He didn't bother to run up the stairs, he knew they suspected of his future plans. He felt small and fragile, weak even but he made it to his bed before falling apart.
The bedroom was locked but Jungkook knew they could hear his sobs. He knew it all. From the worried whispers to the attempted knocks on his door, but what was worse is knowing his grandma's gift had been for nothing. He didn't want to think that there would be someone else out there that makes him feel the way Jimin does, and deep down he knows there isn't.
No one could ever be more important to him than Park Jimin.
Yo my story's kind of a mess... i feel like it's too fast or something; you guys know that there is some time skips in between each chapter right?
Except for this one and the last one haha
