Chained Hearts

Warm Eyes

I'm screaming but no one can hear me. I am trying to talk and say something but it is as if my mouth has been glued shut.

I hear and feel everything but with my eyes still shut I can't see. My eyes beg to be opened and see light but my body refuses to listen.

" Please Ava." I hear s familiar voice and recognize it as my little sisters. This time it sounds broken. I want to say something but it's a force of nature stopping me. My heart breaks as I think of how much my family will be worrying right now.

" Ava, fight. Fight this." A deep voice says and I immediately feel myself fighting back. I will not be silenced even if I may have almost died even.

I hear the voices of Jamie and David among others praying for me to wake up but I can't. I'm trapped inside my own head. My mind does everything in its power to move and talk. I know I am pushing my body to the max right now but I need to.

Slowly I feel my eyes peel open and the bright lights make me whimper and cower back inside.

" She's awake." Exclaims my sister in a high pitched voice and I groan. I regret this.

" Ava baby, can you talk?" Alexander asks with concern as he comes in my eye sight with a hopeful smile. I notice he has grown a stubble and it compliments his messy hair which is only making him look more hotter.

" Your hot." I blurt out and immediately realize Abha I have just said. Nice one Ava, I sarcastically think to myself as my cheeks set on fire and Alexander chuckles making me insides melt.

That warm feeling inside me fades away as my body shoots pain in my body. I hiss in pain and clench my hands on the edge of the bed.

" Ava, are you okay?" Alexander asks me worriedly and I nod yes as I slowly try to get comfortable.

I look up after fixing a blanket and pillow on me. A tall slender woman walks in the room, her blond hair had little streaks for gray and her warm brown eyes meet mine.

" How are you feeling Ava?" She asks me and I notice her as Jenny, one of nurses from our pack medical center north of the woods.

" I feel very sore as if every inch of my body is covered in bruises."I reply honestly.

" Well you do have major bruising and almost broke a rib cage but don't worry it won't last long. The cuts on ur side are half way healed thanks to your alpha bloodline but it will still be a raw cut for some time so be gentle. I In a few days It will heal fully" Her voice holds calmness and assurance.

" Thank you." I smile at her and she smiles back. Soon Jenny walks out after prescribing me some medicine and ointments.

" I can't believe you went after that disgusting creature on your own. I should have been with you." Alex says to me with a sigh. I feel bad at the fact he probably blames himself for this when he shouldn't.

" Its not your fault so shut up. It was my choice to go after him, adrenaline kicked in and I took off. Who cares if I got a little hurt, life works that way." His expression changes from guilt to annoyance.

" I care, this time you got lucky. What if next time you don't Ava? What will happen to me than?" I am left in silence after that.

" I'm sorry but I will die if I need to keep my loved ones safe." The words come out my mouth before I can even think and I get out of bed ignoring the pain in my body that nearly made me collapse.

I hold onto Alexander's arm for support as an instinct and than let go as if he burned me and exit the room. He called my name several times but I couldn't think straight.

Who ever was out there tonight was clearly sent by someone to hurt my family or me, that will never happen as long as I am living and the king needs to get that through his head.

I walk down the halls of the pack medical center seeing some of the pregnant females here for a check up, I smile slightly at them as they look at me in slight shock. The only time I was in the hospital for my self was when I was seven and broke my leg jumping off of the top of a car because I saw superwoman do that in my comic book.

I still remember the sound of a broken twig when I landed.

As I reminisce on that memory I feel a warm body envelope me from the back and immediately know who it is.

He places a kiss on my neck.

" I'm sorry, I just never wanna see you hurt but I know I need to let you fight for your own family too. Doesn't mean I am gonna let you be alone because I will die before let anyone touch you." His words make me blush a little as I turn around to hug him and peck his cheeks.

" I know." I whisper

" Let's go home." With that we both walked out hand in hand and a bag of medicine into the late night or maybe even very early morning. Who knows, I'm still on drugs.
