It has been three nights since I have last slept. I don't know why but when ever I close my eyes all I can see is someone coming after me. I see a tall woman who is beyond beautiful. Her smooth chocolate skin is glowing with her natural dark curls tucked in a bun. Those eyes hold danger though. Each time they appear, the fire and anger behind them would wake me up with cold sweat.
In these three days I have not talked to anyone much. I tend to wake up, skip almost all my meals until I feel myself feeling sick so I drink a coffee with some granola bars. From sunrise to sunset I am out, no one catches me sneaking in or out really. Of course Alexander tracks where I am but I already spoke to him about needing space for a few days so he let me be, except for him always being awake from the time I am out to when I am inside again. Once I am in the castle he sleeps.
Most of the hours I am just wandering the woods, observing everything around me. I stare at the trees, all the types of insects in the ground, make sure no one suspicious is here, and just think about everything. The boy's dead body, Gordon, Alexander, new commands we need to now make for the safety of the kingdom and much more. Life seemed to have completely flipped for me and I don't know where to start and where to end.
Now the sun rises once again as I peek out through my room window. Alexander stays remaining asleep next to me as I watch the sunrise through the black and gold French doors that lead to our prrivate balcony. I swiftly place a kiss on Alexander's cheek and get in the shower.
After getting dressed in a black sleeveless romper and flats, I head down the grand staircase and into the kitchen. No more walking around like a zombie. I am the damn queen of this kingdom and need to pull my shit together.
As I walk into the state of the art kitchen, all the chefs and helpers bow swiftly and greet me mornings. I return the greetings and ask for French toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns and all sorts of bacon and sausages to be prepared. These foods are of course Alexander's favorites and he deserves to enjoy morning meals as a king among others who privately ask the chef's for their favorites. He never seemed to bother them about his own specifications but I picked up over the past few weeks what his eyes light up too when the food comes onto the tables.
I grab some strawberries and blueberries to make jam for him. He prefers homemade jam over store bought and with that in mind I set to making it for him. I really thought I will end up seeing a minster and run away from him with a great reason but this man has given me nothing but love and safety. The Gordon situation was wrong but I know if I was in his shoes, maybe I wouldn't have even done anything different apart from not killing him so soon.
Finally breakfast is all set on the dining table and the royal members, guard's etc. are all here but the two grand chairs at the top of the table are empty. One for the king and the queen. I make my way back up to our room and find Alexander still sleeping in which is very rare for him. He never sleeps past 6:30 and now its an hour past.
" Alexander, wake up." I gently move his hair out his face and shake his shoulder a little bit. One eye peeks open and looks up at me before he fully becomes aware of the time.
" You never sleep in, what happened?" I sit on the edge of the bed and ask with half my body draped across his now and he hugs me with his big brawny arms.
" I stayed up long after you slept baby. Thought about what Gordon said about Diana and where she can be right now, what does she have planned and have been reviewing and protecting safety protocols and protection for everyone." Alexander explains but I have a hard time focusing on what he is actually saying as his morning voice distracts me.
" Listen, we will figure it all out later when I tell you something too. Let's just enjoy our morning first." I say calmly and sit up ready to go with his hand in mine. He doesn't move but still has a grip on my hand as he stares into my eyes deeply as if trying to see a story behind them.
" Ava, I don't know what man you thought I was and by now you see I'm not the reality of the stories people make. I am no stranger to killing and being a monster but I am not that with my kingdom and queen. You see that, I do not know what good I did to deserve you but you're stuck with me for infinity as I am with you, happily. I will do anything and everything to protect you and this kingdom. Even if it comes at the price of my life." With the last words he say my eyes water and a part of me breaks inside.
" I don't care what those stories ever were said, I see the best king and man I have ever seen in front of me. You don't scare me Alexander, you give me safety. I will never let you die and nor will you so don't say that shit again. I will do anything for you and this kingdom too but without each other we won't be able to end what ever war is coming. There is no throne for me to sit on without you by my side." His face is between my palms as I finish talking.
" Son of a bitch, you made me all sad and loving this early." I quickly pull back and wipe my tears.
Alexander sits there smiling at me and I see the love in his eyes among with the passion. We entwine our hands together and head down for breakfast after he freshens up. With all the smells of the food I notice the excitement in his eyes as he takes it all in.
" I hope your as happy to eat me too one day as you are to eat all this food my dear king." I huskily whisper next to his ear. His head turns to me so fast and the green seems as if it was never there. Pitch black eyes now hold mine.
