Capituló 19

Pain. Pain was all I felt as I felt my body being moved around in high speeds. I had no idea where I was or where I was going, but I knew I wasn't in a bed. I was in someone's back.

The groan that came out of my lips quickly halted the wolf underneath me, who whimpered quietly, and then there was peace again as something was injected into me. I had no idea how long time had passed until I was gently being forced to wake up.

"It's hurts." Was the first thing that came out of my lips as I opened my eyes. The bright light of the sun blinded me, and I flinched, only to flinch and groan as the first flinch hurt me. It was just constant pain now.

A shadow blocked the suns rays, and the familiar, dirty face of my dad came into my view. "Dad?"

He didn't speak. He stared at me for a few seconds, before he shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. He took a step back as another familiar face blocked the sun, and Tatiana looked down at me with a grim expression.

"It's almost time. Why did you bring her here when she was perfectly safe in the palace grounds?"

"Dimitri..." The rest of the words were drowned out as a ringing tone in my ear got louder and louder, and tears leaked from my eyes at the pain. Two sets of hands wiped my cheeks, and I mentally thanked them as the ringing slowly dwindled down. "... only choice."

I managed to lick my dry lips, and croaked out some words. "What's... wrong?"

There was a deep full sigh, and then Tatiana's face appeared in my line of sight again. She shook her head, but closed her eyes as she placed a warm hand above my heart. I felt a rush of power go through me, and I shuddered, feeling energized. As I sat up, I saw Tatiana on her knees as she panted for her breath, and she looked up at me.

"All that... for just this... damn it." She looked down, her lips shaking and I stared at her in confusion. I looked around, seeing my entire family staring at me with tears in their eyes. My mom was glued to my dad as she sobbed, not being able to stare back at me as I met her eyes. Aria was hiding her face behind her hands as her shoulders shook, while Noah held his crying mate in his arms. Ali wasn't crying; she looked horrified as she stared at Tatiana, who still kneeled besides me.

"Why is everyone crying? What's going on?" As I looked around me, I finally noticed that we were in a makeshift tent. There was nothing except the thick blanket I was laying on, and a small, square shaped cut next to the wall I was at, explaining why I had a light on my face. "Is someone going to tell me what the hell is going on?"

"It's Dimitri, Emilee."

His words struck something in my heart. I looked up at him in horror as a lump formed in my throat. "What about him?" I croaked out, the lump only getting tighter.

"He's... hes out of control. He can't... he won't..." my dad sighed and shook his head. "I told him to not consider it, but he didn't listen to me. If-"

"Dad. Just tell me what the heck is wrong with Dimitri."

"Dimitri is not himself. He is not himself anymore Emilee." I looked at him in even more confusion and he stared grimly at me. "There's something no one knows about him. Only I know it, since I know his vampiric legends." He took a deep breath and then continued. "Every vampire king has three sides inside of him. A human side, a vampire side... and a demon side. The demon inside of him is something he can use if he feels like there is no other option to end something. But once that demon is out, his human side is completely cut off and there is no way to bring it back. There has only been one king who has done this, and he was killed and burned by the faeries, as they saw the carnage and pain he was leaving behind on his subjects."
