"Don't tell me you are growing weak!" Seraya snapped at Victor. He ignored her and continued writing. She pushed his ink bottle and sheets away and the ink spilled all over the place.

Fury flashed in his eyes as he grabbed her by the neck and pinned her against the wall. "Don't forget your place Seraya, or I'll make you pay for every breath you take in!".

She started gasping for air and he let go of her. She fell to her knees breathing heavily. "I'm sorry master, for a moment I forgot my place".

He didn't bother looking at her as he was still eyeing the ink she had spilled all over. "Clean up this mess" he told her and walked out.

He went up to his study and took out a book recounting what had happened the previous night. 'What was he thinking? He had almost made love to Stephanie if Seraya hadn't burst in. She screamed at the top of her voice as she saw both of them kissing. Stephanie was shocked and threw him a surprised look. She asked if he was with someone else but before he could utter a word, Seraya told Stephanie she was Victor's wife. A tear had fallen from Stephanie's eyes. He read her, she was feeling betrayed and hurt. She ran out of the room as far as her legs could carry Her, down the fleet of stairs then she found the main door wide open. She dashed out into the woods in the cold of the night.

She ran till she came across a huge tree and sat under it. She wept uncontrollably. 'Why did he lie to her?'. She suddenly heard feminine voices chuckling. "Who's there?!". The voices multiplied and she felt a cold chill run down her spine. They started coming out of the bushes around her. Figures clad in black overall. She couldn't see their faces as they all wore a hood. They stopped in their tracks and lifted up their hands chanting in a language she had never heard. The ground shook and a storm began. She tried to run but she couldn't move. Their voices sounded like a million insects buzzing in her ears. She covered her ears with her palms but it didn't stop.

Suddenly, the voices died down. Her eyes flew open and they were gone. She felt sick in her stomach and her eyes had started to blur but she could still see the figure standing in front of her 'Victor'. The last thing she remembered was his strong hands lifting her from the ground into his arms before her world went black.

Joachim walked graciously out of the King's chambers. He had gone to ask the King if he could take Stephanie to the fields for horse racing. "She's your bride, you can take her anywhere you want" he had told him.

He found Stephanie in her room knitting a a small towel. "Hey there Princess"

She looked up from the towel 'how rude, he didn't even knock'. She kept the wool and half finished towel in her closet and turned around to see him standing so close to her. 'She didn't hear him move so how did he get there?'

"What do you want?!" She asked frowning as his eyes trailed over her cleavage. 'Pervert'

He tucked her hair behind her ears and held her chin up drawing her closer to him ignoring her fruitless struggles. He had almost kissed her when the door flung open.

"Steph can I go riding with you?" Jackie asked, her lower lip sticking out.

Joachim turned to look at her so Stephanie took the opportunity and pushed him away. "I'm not riding today Jackie" "but father said you are" Jackie replied still pleading.

Stephanie threw Joachim a sharp look. "What did you say to father?!". He smiled cunningly went to carry Jackie in his arms. "I promise when next I visit we'll go racing together, just you and I". She held her breath for sometime then showed him her pinky "Pinky swear?" He smiled then crossed his pinky with hers "pinky swear". She giggled happily then dashed out of the room with her puppy running after her.

A guard came to inform Joachim that the horses were ready. He turned to face Stephanie and bowed "Shall we?"

Seraya burnt the remaining bodies Victor had drained of blood. They were either bodies of assassins, rapists and so on.

Victor watched her from a balcony upstairs reading her every thought. She was upset about him being so intimate with Stephanie. He knew she loved him but he had no feelings for her.

He had saved her from a plague that struck her village years ago. Everyone in the village had died but luckily for her, he found her at deaths door and revived her with magic.

Eleanor wasn't in support of bringing a mere mortal to their lair but he convinced her to let Seraya stay. Eleanor knew she was bound to find out about their supernatural strength so she made her swear an oath of secrecy.

How he missed Eleanor. She had gone to stay among the white witches after Victor had mastered all his special abilities.

Seraya heard someone call her name. It was a faint whisper yet she knew who the voice belonged to. She turned and saw him standing at the top balcony. He was clad in a black cloak with black trousers with his chest bare. She bowed and continued what she was doing. 'Seraya' she heard her name again and turned to see him standing behind her. "my lord"

She apologized for barging in on him earlier on. He smiled and gave her a smirk. "You know the rules Seraya". She grinned at him. He had forgiven but they had made an agreement. Anytime she offended him, they'll have a race in the woods knowing fully well he'll always win. She curtsied and he folded his hands across his chest. "On your tracks".

Joachim was leading the race. 'He knew he was better at this that's why he brought up the idea in the first place' Stephanie thought. They were supposed to race from the fields down the lake then back to the castle. Stephanie decided to outsmart him. She knew a shortcut in the woods so she decided to take it.

She was still racing when she caught sight of a girl running. She stopped and got down from her horse. Hiding behind a tree, she peered out and saw her standing with a man. Her hands on her knees. She was panting, obviously exhausted from her run. The man held out something to her, probably water. She quickly gulped down the contents.

As though he knew someone was watching him, he turned around and their eyes locked.

'Victor' her heart leapt for joy when she saw him but it quickly faded when the girl hugged him from behind. She felt a stab of of pain hit her head. 'What was he doing with another woman?' She expected Victor to fling the girl's hands away and run to her like a flash telling her that it was nothing, telling her the girl was family but none of that happened. He just stood there staring at her. She felt betrayed 'why did everything seem so farmilair? The feeling of betrayal. It wasn't the first time but when had she gone through betrayal in her life. She couldn't remember.

At that same moment a tear escaped here eye, she felt someone hug her from behind. He placed his head on her shoulder and whispered into her ears. "Stay still"
