Tris POV:
I wake up with a strong pair of arms around me.
I turn around.
"Tobias, wake up." I say.
He groans.
I peck his lips and he tries to deepen it. I pull back and his eyes flutter open.
"Goodmorning beautiful." Tobias say.
"Goodmorning handsome." I reply.
"I should get going." He says.
"Yea. Me too."
I kiss him.
"Bye Tris."
"Bye Tobias."
And we part our different ways.
I skip home smiling.
"Hey honey. Where were you?" My mom asks me.
"Hey mom. I was just at the spring." I say.
It's not a lie but it's not the full truth.
"Why you so happy?" She asks me.
"No reason."
"Better hurry and change. Christina is in there getting ready."
"Where's Caleb?"
"He went out to go play."
I walk to my room and change into my uniform. Then I walk to Christina's room.
"Hey." I say softly.
"Hey. Where were you?" Christina asks me.
"At the spring."
She nods.
"Come on let's go." She says smiling.
I smile and we walk out.
---------
I walk to the kitchen and see Lynn.
"Hey." She says.
"Hello." I reply.
"Someone's happy."
"Yep."
"Why?"
"Why does everyone keep asking me that question? Can't I just be happy for no reason?"
"No."
I sigh.
"Tris, I'm kidding." Lynn says laughing.
She hands me the plates with food and I walk to Zeke's room with it. Where I find Zeke, Uriah, and Tobias. I set the food down on the table and walk out. I grab a cloth and begin wiping the tables in the hall.
I begin singing.
"I wonder, I wonderI wonder why each
Little bird has someone
To sing to sweet things to
A happy little love melody?
I wonder, I wonder
If my heart keeps singing
Will my song go winging
To someone who'll find me
And bring back a love song to me?"
"That was beautiful." I hear behind me.
I turn around and see two girls.
"Hi. I'm Shauna and this is Marlene." She says and smile.
I smile nervously.
"Are you two princesses?" I ask them.
"No."
I let out a sigh of relief.
"I'm really sorry. I hate drawing attention to myself. I'm Tris."
"Well, we'll see you later Tris."
I wave as they walk into Zeke's room. Tobias walks out.
He walks over, put something in my apron pocket and walks away.
It's a note.
Tris,
Meet me tonight at nine. I have a surprise planned.
-Tobias
I smile and shove the letter back in my pocket and begin softly humming.
