Ch. 12: Apologies

Tris POV:

Today is a busy day. Christina and I don't leave until midnight.
We set the table.
I sigh.
"Jealous because Tobias is meeting with more girls." Christina says.
"Yes. I don't doubt for a second that those girls will be eye raping him." I say.
"And he will be eye raping you."
"What makes you say that?"
"He's slowly undressing you with his eyes right now."
I turn around and there he is quickly looking away.
I laugh and he blushes.

The palace is full of people. Full of a lot of princesses.
I watch Tobias dance with the princesses.
I sigh.
"Well, someone's jealous."
I turn around there stands Zeke.
"Don't you have to go be a bastard somewhere else." I retort.
"Tris. Play nice." Christina coos.
"I just wanted to apologize. About what I said the other night. I'm really happy for you and Tobias. And I'm really sorry."
"I forgive you." I say.
More girls come and dance with Tobias.
Hours later, I'm at the spring waiting for Tobias.
I go in our little spot behind the waterfall and fall asleep because I know I've been stood up.

I walk to work with Christina.
"What's wrong birdie? You are not chirping today." She says.
"Ha-ha. He stood me." I say.
"Oh. Sorry."
I nod and we continue walking.
I walk to Tobias's room to clean but really I want to yell at him.
When I open the door he is just laying in his bed.
"Hey." He says.
"Hey!? Hey is all you have to say!?" I say.
"Uh..."
I walk to the door but he stops me from leaving.
I turn around so that I'm not facing him.
"Sooner or later you might have to tell me what I've done. So might as well tell me now." He says in my ear, making me shiver.
I turn around and face him.
"You stood me up last night!" I exclaim.
"Oh. Oh. Oh. I'm really sorry. I was really tired and I forgot. I'm really really sorry."
"I forgive you."
He kisses me.
"I hope you didn't rape anyone." I say.
"Does eye rape count?"
"Who?!"
"You."
I playfully punch his arm and he laughs.
