The Valley of the Portal

Chapter IX

Secrets and Promises

The following morning seemed to take centuries to arrive. Rico was waiting for the little Indian girl for hours when she appeared. The myth looked at her eagerly.

"She-to come- in the afternoon- at same place. She said."

He nodded and waited for more information. Kiara shrugged and he asked her impatiently.

"How is she?"

"To be- ok. She- to be walking- but her parents- not to want that she - go out for a while. Even so- she -to come to see you."

"Ok."

"Kiara-to have- to go."

The little Indian girl went away quickly and Rico thought he needed humanized him.

He spent too much time in his mythological universe and was so tense. The myth wanted, in fact he needed to touch her later and the way he was probably their body reacted badly.

It had two different fast options to humanization. Rico reflected about both and his thought was which one Clara got less upset. He decided to go to Manaus to do his humanization, one that he considered fit in Clara's conception of life.

The myth walked through the crowned streets and bump into people over and over, touched children because they were the most powerful source of energy and lasted more time inside his organism. Rico bought new t-shirts and tank tops and wished to buy a gift to Clara, so the myth went window shopping a little bit more and finally found a special thing that matched her. Hours later he returned to the forest.

Rico lay down on the giant stone at the Porpoise's Corner where he and she always meet each other and waited. Hours gone and she didn't come. Rico started to feel impatient and when he was almost deciding between to come back home or to go up to that stupid tree to twist the trunk until it opens and let him in, she showed up.

He jumped down from the stone and immediately was in front of her. Just to see the girl, make his heartbeat irregular and Rico had a glimpse of how huge was his feelings for her and how much dependent he was of her presence in his life.

They felt the necessity to keep the safe distance, but he didn't want it, he needed her "Are you ok?"

"Yes."

Rico looked at her in absolute adoration. She was so beautiful with ponytail, shorts and a light green blouse where he could see a bandage that immobilized her broken ribs.

"Clara, I need..." He inspired a bit nervous and his voice was almost a whisper "... Can you take a stronger control from your body? I want to be closer, but I don't want to put you in risk...You've already hurt."

She stared at him. God, he was so handsome. He wore a white tank top that left his muscles in evidence. She looked at his arms whose deep cuts was bleeding last time she saw him, but now all those wounds were dry and for sure would disappear few days later.

Rico followed her evaluate look on his scars and he noticed that she wasn't too much enthusiastic to see him and he knew why.

"Please."

"Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend in your world...your Chimera or whatever?"

"Because she isn't my girlfriend."

"It wasn't what seemed. She looked like to be claiming some rights on you and the way she kissed you, slipped her hand on your body was very...intimate."
