The Valley of the Portal
Chapter XVI
Your Protector, Your Offender
Clara woke up only at the next morning and looked at her bandaged wrist. She felt her skin tingles and her body still was sore. She got up and guided herself to the bathroom to have a look in her appearance.
"Oh God, I am looking like terrible."
She got rid of all that bandages by herself and inspected those small stitching that are closing a cut of almost ten centimeters. She remembered what had happened and pressed the wound. The lump still was over there, bigger than last night, however curiously wasn't visible in her skin.
Clara could feel it, but no see it. She opened and closed her hand and didn't seem as painful as was days ago. She combed her hair making a ponytail and saw some clean clothes that someone had left on the bed.
The animist girl went downstairs and found an empty house. It was almost noon and people probably should be at the dinner room having lunch. She took a look around the place and didn't meet anyone. She went to the office and saw David and Lottero concentrated in some papers.
Both of them raised their heads and smiled at her.
"How are you feeling?"
"Brand new one. What happened to me?"
Lottero stood up. "I am going to let you talk alone."
He passed by her and kissed her cheek. "Good to see you feeling better."
She smiled at him in return and came up with her father. The girl took a seat in front of him and waited to some explanation.
About twenty minutes later he had told her everything was happened last night and the meaning of the lump in her wrist. Clara was emotional to know how deep it was her connection with Rico and didn't consider any chance of the stone having some negative effect on her personality or even in her body.
Her dad wanted to make her consider such a possibility, but she refused to believe in that.
"Dad, I'd know if I were becoming a curupira. For sure, I would be feeling something weird or I don't know, some different reaction, but I am fine. There wasn't anything strange happening inside me."
"Clara, baby, things can happen out of determined time or space. The fact you are feeling better now it doesn't mean that there will be not effects in the future."
David stood up and got around the desk, he held his daughter's hands.
"Be on the alert about any different reaction, sensation or whatever simple thing happening to you. The hitting of the Bradador's sources will be a good opportunity to check how animist you still remain and if there will be something in transformation probably will be revealed when you are in action."
Clara get up and she was annoyed. "You are talking as if I were turn into the Lock Ness Monster at any time."
David felt sorry about her. She was so confident and the breaking up will be so hard to her heart accept it. But he thought that the Curupira had made the right decision. Her life couldn't be on risk and three different natures in just one human body were more than any person could stand.
He hoped that she could overcome and remain unharmed from this turbulent relationship.
"What was it dad?"
"Nothing. Your mom is waiting for you at the Valley. Go and have lunch with her. Take a rest a little bit more. We are close to face the Bradador and you have to be recovered."
