Chapter XIV 

I am Yours, You are Mine

David was at Colonial House in a meeting with the IBAMA crew when the phone rang. Joshua offered himself to answer.  

"Hi. It's Joshua. . . Yes. Sure....I'm a friend of her." 

When he heard the guy answering in English, David has already known who was on the phone. He missed her daughter. Two weeks had gone without news. He has talked to her several times and at the last callings he felt her much more confident and happy. Definitely this brought peace to his heart.  

Joshua knocked on the door and opened it.  "Sorry to interrupt the meeting, but it's from Salt Lake and they want to talk to someone from Clara's family."  

David stood up immediately and took the phone. Joshua stayed beside him because his sixth sense was in alert and made him believe that it wasn't good news.  

"What? When? Jesus Christ. No.No.Ok.Ok. I'm coming as soon as possible. Thanks. Keep me in touch please." 

Cheh got closer and muttered to Jos. "Is something happening?" 

"I think so."

Clara's dad was pale when he turned to look at the boys. "Clara has disappeared three days ago."

"What a hell? How?" 

"Nobody knows. She went shopping and didn't return." 

"It was Tibor. I am sure about it."  

Joshua was so piss off and visible altered with the news.  

"Of course not. It was him who realized that she was missing and called the police." 

"And now?"  Cheh asked worried.  "What are we gonna do?"

David hurried to go to the office and the boys followed him. 

"I have to get something. I am going to Salt Lake as soon as possible."

"I am gonna too."  Joshua was decided and Cheh added.  

"Me too."  

"I need you guys going to the Valley to ask Lottero to come here. Don't let this news spread because I have to be careful to tell Sophia about it."  

Cheh was a falcon and literally he was flying through the woods. The lince came immediately behind him and ran furiously.

Rico was going along the trail. He spent more time inside the Chimera than he was expecting and it was necessary to humanize a bit. So he intended to go to Manaus and in the middle of the path he saw the rush of animists and thought considering their speed, probably they are going to save someone who should be at the gallows. But a curious fact drew the Curupira's attention, the fury of Joshua knocking over everything on his way no minding dodging.  

Few times Rico saw him that way and all of them were because of Clara. He took just seconds to realize that something had happened to her. The myth became a blast of light behind the boys and arrived at the Tree of Life together them blocking the entrance.  

"What happened to her?" 

"Get out Rico, we have no time now."

"I want to know what happened to her, is she ok?" 

"It's not your business."  

Cheh passed by him hurried and Joshua ignored him completely. Rico held the lince's arm and he reacted pushing him away. Immediately the boys crossed the portal and the myth stayed over there waiting for and swearing them.
