The Valley of the Portal

Chapter XVII

I love you, I hate you

"An entire month has gone and you didn't put your feet out of house."

"I am afraid of...you know mom...meet him."

"Baby, you have to face it. Of course you are going to meet him anytime. It's inevitable considering both of you live at the forest."

"I can't handle it yet mom."

"And what are gonna do about it? Are you going to run away forever?"

"I think so."

Sophia moaned.  "No way. You are going to show him that everything was overcame and you don't think about him anymore."

"That's not truth."

"You have to make an effort."

"I know. Do you think I am not making an effort? I want to overcome mom, believe I really do, but it is not easy as seems to be."

"Fine. Tell me a thing. Did you get to block the connection or still feel his reactions and emotions?"

Clara wanted to tell the truth to her mom, but she gave up. Of course she didn't figure out. Actually nobody could understand that didn't depend on her will. What she had understood in this last month, Rico had the command over the situation all the time. She could feel what he wanted let her know and the most of time it was just fury, bitterness and irritation.

She never felt some feeling like love, regret or any indication that he was missing her and it was maybe the reason that make her feel much more ruined.

"No mom, I feel nothing. The connection is gone."

"Thank you God. Now you are going to be ready to follow your friends until Manaus."

"Mom, I am not going anywhere."

"Please, It will be good for you and Joshua will be happy. He misses you a lot, everyone does."

Clara concluded that will be worse if she resisted. Her mother would stay talking in a non-stop whacky way. Jesus Christ, to be in piece will be better to go to Manaus. At least over there she could confine herself in any dark area with nobody freak her out.

Joshua barely believe when saw his friend arriving to go with them. "Welcome back to life."

"Don't piss me off Jos."

She answered rudely but was smiling.

Nobody else made any unnecessary comment, but they were happy to see her back.

The event was crowned and the most of people was young between fifteen and twenty years old. The young hunters spread to make the safety, but they knew that would have almost nothing to do beyond drunken guys and small discussions, but these kinds of things stayed to the local police station to solve. So, the night should be quiet and funny.

Joshua opted to stay with Clara even she preferring to be alone. She was very quiet and without disposition to chat with him.

The lince respected her silence just staying beside her without pull her to talking to him about subjects that she wasn't interested.

Two hours later and Clara decided to buy some iced drink to quench her thirst.

"Don't worry. Stay here and I will buy for you."  Joshua offered. " What would like to drink?"
