The Valley of the Portal

Chapter XIII

Alliance Between Two Nations

Rico stared at the closed door of Colonial House. He was taking a big decision, but had everything calculated and needed to follow the steps.

He knocked three times and someone opened the door making a mute gesture to let him in.

The big hall had more people than he was expecting. He counted about ten in the room and all of them in their animist body. Of course they don't trust him enough to show off as human. Among unknown people over there he recognized the elders-leaders, the lynx, the falcon, the crocodile-boy and the panda-girl.

The Curupira had to step back because of concentrated animist power and started to tie his hair feeling too much uncomfortable. The small gesture was wrongly interpreted, once everyone knew the absurd power of that red hair, so it had a sort of riot what made him stayed in alert.

He raised his hand a little bit annoyed. Didn't they notice who was in disadvantage over there? He wouldn't be crazy to face alone a lot of experienced and well-trained hunters of myths. After all, wasn't he who asked for the meeting?

"Keep calm." He said impatient. "I just need some space and you guys have to return to your human bodies."

Paul put some order in the group.  "Folks, please, lets do it. Rico we are here to listen to you."

"I know."

"A young guy in a black jaguar aspect looked at him with disdain. Rico didn't remember to see him before and didn't give him great importance. One by one all members were back to human way, Rico stepped forward and broadly speaking, he started to explain. He leaned his shoulder on the wall and everybody remained in the other side of the room just heard."

"The Bradador is called a dry body-myth or as you guys get used to say, a mummy, who had the spirit snatched from his body mass. He stayed lost, with no destination. Lots of people called this sort of myth of lost souls, ghosts or whatever. He lives in a darkness and doesn´t get to materialized."

Cheh reasoned about it and said. "But if he doesn´t have body mass to materialized, so...he can't be dematerialized."

Rico agreed. "That's the big problem and what let him so strong."

The black jaguar spoke at the first time. "And how could we know that you are saying the truth?"

Rico turned his eyes to look at him and said. "It's truth."

The black jaguar huffed as if considered his answer a sum of shit. Lottero made a question. "What's the best way to stop him?"

"He had to return to his death body to be buried. The earth refused him once because he had unfinished things to solve and time to pay for his bad acts, but the time is complete now."

"That's impossible. How are we going to find his lost body after centuries?"

"And even we could find it, how would we do to put a spirit back and keep it inside?"

"First at all we have to find the body and only if we'd get it, we can go ahead. I am going to track some possible location where he was buried at the first time."

The animists figured out that probably Rico knew how to complete the process but he was walking step by step to feel how would be to work with them. He was building a confidence.

"So is not he a real myth? Is it a kind of haunting?" - Joshua was curious.

"So-so. That is one of reason we call him of dry body-myth. He hasn't his own body and feed himself from energy of people's belief in lost souls and a lot of people believe in that. Initially we have just to let him weak, only after we are going to think in a more effective action."
