"Hmm, pink bikini or black and purple bikini?" I thought aloud staring into my closet
"Eww neither!" I hear the all too familiar male voice come from behind me.
I throw my head back and groan, "Go away!" I say turning towards the doorway.
The blonde was undeniably handsome and I hated to admit it. He stood at about 6'2" he easily towered over my small 5'4" frame. Like mine, his hair was such a light shade of blonde it could almost pass for white. We also, shared the same icy blue eyes. His tanned skin was exposed seeing as how he wasn't wearing a shirt leaving his six pack on full display. I wished he'd put a shirt on, its seriously, disturbingly, cringe worthy to see him without one.
"Is that anyway to speak to your favorite brother?" He asks making his way towards me.
"You're my only brother. That doesn't make you my favorite."
He holds his hands over his heart, "Ouch, Im wounded." He adds walking over and kissing my forehead along with messing up my hair. I swat his hands away.
"When did you get in my room?" I ask fixing my hair
"Like 5 minutes ago." he says flopping on to my bed
"Make yourself at home" I offer sarcastically turning to face my closet once more.
"Thanks. But It's a no go on the bikini, though." He says propping himself up on his left elbow to face me.
"And why is that?" I ask not bothering to turn around.
"Because this is vacation. I'd like to enjoy it." He shrugs
"I don't follow." I say turning to face him.
"Well, lets face it. I'm pretty fucking hot." He says looking down at his phone
I wait for a moment to let him continue. But he doesn't. "Hello, Jaxon!" I say waving my hands in his face to get his attention. "So, what does that have to do with me?" I put my hands on my hips.
"You are a girl me, literally." He replies still typing away at his phone smiling.
"So?" I furrow my brow in confusion
"So, if girls try to approach me. What do you think boys are gonna do to you?" He answers in a duh tone.
"Who cares!" I throw my hands in the air.
"Me! I care. You're my little sister and-"
"By a minute and fifteen seconds, Jaxon"I cut him off
"It dosen't matter, Baye. I still don't want males staring at you like that." He says. I know he's coming from a good place but he's infuriating sometimes. Ever since our parents passed away two years ago he's taken on the 'father role'. I appreciate it, I really do. But I'm in college now. I'm not a little kid anymore. I really wish he would just ease back a little.
"But it's vacation, Jax" I whine
"Exactly, and I'd like to spend it with Annie by the pool and not with smelly old men in a jail cell for beating the crap outta some pervy dude." He says finally looking up from his phone.
I smirk at the mention of her name, "Oh, yeah. Annie."
"I can see the gears turning in your twisted little head. What are you thinking Baye?" He asks, I didn't miss the slight panic in his voice.
"You have five seconds to change your mind. Or else." I cross my arms over my chest. With my head held high.
"Are you threatening me little B?" Jaxon asks mimicking my stance.
"3" I count
"You don't scare me, sis."
"2" I continue
"Bring it on." He smirks
"1" I smirk, "Annie!!! Jax is trying to ruin my vacation!"
His smirk instantly disappears and his arms drop to his sides. "No! What are you doing!?"
Moments later the sound of angry feet attacking the ground was all to be heard until they weren't. "Jaxon is trying to do what!" Both of our heads snap in the direction of the door.
Annie's usually porcelain skin was now a bright shade of scarlet . Annie has beach blonde hair that rests just below her shoulders but was now in a messy bun on top of her head. Her grey eyes were shooting daggers at my brother. Her breathing was rigid and I could practically see the smoke coming out of her ears.
'You're so gonna get it' I mouthed to my brother earning myself a glare.
Annie only stands at 5'0" but when she gets angry she's meaner than a junkyard dog. It takes a lot to get her there but when you do by that point it's every man for themselves. I accidentally ate her chicken potpie one time I apologized but then I woke up in the middle of the night with half of my head shaved. It gets real.
"What the hell do you think you're doing Jaxon?" She fumes.
A speechless Jaxon just stands there gaping at her like a fish out of water.
"What's Baye talking about?" she crosses her arms
"Nothing she's just being overly dramatic." He accuses.
"Why are you deliberately trying to ruin whats supposed to be the best spring break of my life!?" Annie starts to sob
"I'm not, baby. I would never do that." Jax cooed pulling her into his arms. Crying? Well played, Annie, well played. I inwardly smile at my bestfriend.
"Then whats the problem?" She sniffled turning and asked me.
"He won't let me wear my bikini." I state
"Well, I'm sure he has a good reason. Right, Jaxy?" She says wiping her eyes and looking up at him. Ollle, the 'Jaxy' card. Man, she's good.
"Yes! I don't want guys looking at her. I care about her." He says
"So, you won't let her wear one because you care about her?" Annie asks.
"Precisely."
"But I'm wearing one." I can see Jax visibly pale. "Does that mean you don't care about me Jaxon." End game.
"What! No." He defends
"So, why can't she wear one, too." She argues "Why can't you just like treat us the same?"
"Fine!" Jax yells before storming out of the room.
"Annie. You are the master." I fake bow to her.
"Anytime. We leave in five minutes!" She throws over her shoulder as she exits my room. I finish packing and head towards the door.
I meet the gang in the common area of our dorm. "Everybody ready?" I get a chorus of 'yes' and 'yeahs' and we all head downstairs. I notice Jax start to fall behind, too busy with his face in his phone.... again. I decide to take it.
I quickly regret my decision, "Jax." I look up to him "Why are you texting her." I asked not believing my eyes.
"We're friends." He snatches his phone back.
"She was asking about you in class today." I remember earlier in the day. "She followed me all the way to my dorm building when I wouldn't answer her questions. And she was not happy to hear you and Annie were still dating. What's going on Jaxon?" I ask, fearing the worst.
"Nothing's going on Baye. Friends ask about friends sometimes. No big deal."
"Are you sure that's all it is?"
"Yes! Now, leave it alone Baye! Seriously." He snaps and I flinch at his harsh tone. "Look, I'm sorry. But we're just friends. I love Annie. Trust me."
I utter a quick 'okay' and put my my suitcase in the trunk of Eli's car. After we all get in we set off towards the airport. I see the way Jax looks at Annie. There's no way he would do anything to hurt her. Harper's just attention absorbed. I know my brother. He's a pain in my ass but he's not heartless.
