13| Oh Nos & Psychos

We ran until our lungs literally couldn't take in any more air. We ducked behind a tower of safety boats to catch our breath.

"We cannot let him get away with this." I say once I finally get my breathing under control.

"I know" Annie responds

"We need a plan."

"We have to call the cops. First things first. We can't handle this alone." She says

"You're right." I say as I grab my phone and called the cops.

I explained the whole ordeal to the operator who told me they would need a little bit of time seeing as how we are in the middle of the ocean. I said okay before hanging up.

"I called they said they need at least 30 minutes." I told Annie.

"Okay, so now what?"

"I have no idea. Maybe you distract him until they get here?" Annie suggests

"I don't know if I could stomach being around him right now. I could blow this whole thing on an accident." I say

"You have to try." She says tearing up. "For Jaxon, Eli."

"And Lonni" I finished

"Okay, I'll do it."

"Do what." A voice said from behind us causing us to scream.

"Holy shit."

"Machai!" Well fuck.

"Hey beautiful." He says kissing me. "What are we doing?"

Game on I guess.

"Calling you actually." I say smiling up and praying to God it was convincing.

"Oh, really? Well, I'm here now. What can I do for you?" He smiled.

Normally, That would've made my knees weak. But now it made my stomach turn. It just makes me want want to whoop his ass. I want to channel all my anger and use it to bash his fucking face in. I look into the eyes I thought I loved so much and all I see if my brother and friends. All I can think about is the fact that those eyes are the last thing they seen. About how could I let someone so close so fast. If I wouldn't have met him they would still be alive. This is all my fault. A snapping sound pulled me from my thoughts.

"Baby?" Machai said snapping his fingers in front of my face. "Are you okay?"

I look at Annie to see her subtly nodding her head. "Of course I am."

"You don't look it. You have this weird look on your face." He says tilting his head to the side. That used to be cute. His reached out to caress my cheek. I couldn't help but to flinch hard, not wanting the hands of a murder on my skin.

"I cannot do this." I whispered.

"Baye." Annie say, fear slightly rising in her voice.

"No, Annie!" I said "I can't pretend that everything is okay."

"What the hell is going on?" Machai shouts causing me to stop talking.

"I saw you." I muttered.

"What?" He asks standing up.

"I saw you!" I shout standing up too. "With Lonni. I know what you did." I cried.

"You're confused." Machai says reaching for me. I snatch my arm away and yank Annie to her feet.

"Don't touch me."

"Baye, let's talk about this."

"Talk about what? How you murdered my friends."
