Decorating for Christmas

Update at the end of the story.

You were sitting in the living room with Grayson and Zach, your three year old son, digging through bins filled with decorations.  

"Mooommy?! Can I hang this one on the twee?!"

"Yes baby. You can hang it on the tree. Just be careful ok?" You chuckled. It's so cute when he can't correctly pronounce certain words.

"Otay moommy!" He waddled over to the half decorated Christmas tree. You were just waiting for the sound of the ornament to collide with the floor.

"3.. 2.."

"Uhh ohh." The ornament fell from his tiny hands and shattered all over the floor. You knew exactly what was going to happen which is why you let him hang up the cheaper decorations you purchased just for him.

Grayson giggled as he picked Zach up, placing him back to where you were with the bins. He cleaned up the mess to prevent from getting glass stuck in someone's foot and watched as you handed Zach another ornament.

"Alright Zach, I'm going to give you another one, but you have to be more careful. Okay?"

"Yes moommy!"

You handed him yet another ornament and examined his waddling.

"Wow, I think he's doing i..."

He dropped it again.

"Oopsy sowwy moommy!"

"Hey buddy. Why don't we hang this one up together?" Grayson acknowledged him.

"YAY! Daddy is gowing to hewlp me!"

You reached into the bin and handed Grayson another ornament. He gave it to Zach to hold and lifted him up in the air.

"Ok. Now just put it on the tree."

Once again the sound of the ornament breaking echoed through the room.

Both you and Grayson smirked at each other.

"How about we have some hot chocolate instead!" Grayson said with excitement.

"YAY HOT CHOCLATE!"

Grayson spun around with Zach still in his grip and tossed him in the air.

"I'M DIZZY!" Zach giggled.

You smiled with true happiness watching your husband bond with his son. They went into the kitchen while you stayed behind and cleaned up the mess of two broken ornaments.
