"Thank you, Jeonghan-oppa!" something I would hear quite often in school but never got to say.
There was this senior a year above me who would help his peers and juniors out and care for them. He had silky smooth, beautiful hair that accompanied his beautiful features. He was like a literal angel. Too bad I was never once visited by this angel. He had said a word or two to my friends before but never to me. Was I unlikable? Why won't oppa notice me? T.T
So I devised a plan to get help from this angel at least this once.
I purposely took out a few of my books from my bag and held the stack in my arms. I walked down the hallway where his class was. Aha! There he was! When I got close enough to him, I pretended to drop a few books.
"Oh shoot! Clumsy me!" I muttered.
I looked up to see he had turned a corner and walked down a hallway away from me. My friend had to help me pick it up and she pat me on the back to comfort me.
"Don't worry, you have 4 months to get him to notice you at least once before he graduates," she encouraged me.
"Thanks for the reminder," I said sarcastically.
I tried again. I limped past him, I got my friend to slap me when he was nearby and even tripped a short distance from him. Nothing. He tended to everyone else but me. Soon, 4 months turned into half a month left. I eventually gave up and just went about my life, pretty depressed.
"Who am I kidding? I am trying too hard. If I can't get one person to notice me once, I'll never find love. Unless online dating should be my last resort or arranged marriage," I sighed to myself as I sat at the edge of the rooftop.
I sat at the dangerous edge of the rooftop for a few more mins. I thought I heard the door to the rooftop open. I turned to see no one. Must be my imagination.
I eventually decided to get up but just as I did, I slipped and almost fell to my death if not thanks to someone. I got dragged back away from the edge and the person huffed as he let go. The voice sounded like a boy.
"Thank you-"
I turned to see that whoever he was had dashed out. I decided to pursue my saviour. I ran and followed the echoing footsteps of the person who was running down the stairs ahead of me.
"Whoever it is, I just want to say thank you! I could have died back there! Please, let me see you!" I shouted down the narrow winding stairs.
I ran down as fast as possible until I got closer to the person. His hair flew as he ran away from me. Familiar...
"Jeonghan-oppa?" I called out.
The person paused which allowed me to catch up. It really was him. Was I saved by the angel? It was even better than acknowledgement. He looked at me rather hesitantly. He could barely face me.
"Jeonghan-oppa, am I unlikable that you are running away from me?" I asked.
"N-no! It's not like that." he scratched the side of his face nervously.
I walked up until I was an arm's length from him and he got more nervous. Why? Was I intimidating? I did not have a big form and I was not infamous for anything.
"Well, you see..." he spoke up.
"I like you," he confessed, looking me in the eye.
