"Jagiya," my boyfriend, Jeonghan, called out while we were taking our usual stroll.
I turned to my left and hummed.
"Would you like to make a bet?" he asked.
My competitive nature influenced me to agree, of course.
"I bet that I can carry the whole world in my arms."
"Nope," I chuckled.
"You're betting that I can't?" he asked.
"Yeah."
He stopped in his tracks and turned his whole body to face me. Then with that cynical smile of his, he swiftly scooped me up and carried me in his arms. Oh no. It was a pick-up line. I facepalmed and laughed.
"Ta-da! See! So you lose the bet!" he announced.
He put me down and I huffed.
"Ok. So what do I owe you now?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"Your hand in marriage," he said with a sweet smile.
My heart skipped a beat. D-did he just propose to me? He saw my surprised expression and chuckled. Perhaps he was joking. Damn... I really thought he really would this time-
"Surprisingly, your ring finger is almost the size of my pinky and you are not very observant," he mentioned.
He lifted his left hand and pulled out a slim shiny silver ring from his pinky. He watched my speechless reaction and smiled. I covered my mouth in surprise as he kneeled on one knee.
"You lost the bet so marry me," he said.
I giggled. This was no longer made a question. The only answer was yes. I was not complaining though. I had been waiting for him to propose for months!
"Of course! I keep my promises!" I replied to his proposal that sounded more of a command.
He got up and slid the ring on my finger. It fit perfectly. He cheered, grateful it was the right size while I smiled at how he was sly yet again. This was the same sly man who snuck into my heart and claimed it. Either way, he was able to surprise me on way too many occasions. He intertwined his hands in mine and kissed me.
"I love you, Carat. I look forward to seeing you in that stunning cream-coloured wedding dress in 3 months," he told me with a now gentle smile.
"I love you too. W-wait. 3 months? Did you plan ahead without me?" I double-checked with him.
No way I misheard this. He shook his head. He took out his phone and scrolled through our chats. He pointed out the bunch of pictures he sent me and my responses.
"Of course not! Why else did you think I was asking you which dress and wedding hall you preferred?" he mentioned, a smug look on his face.
My eyes widened. I honestly thought he was just fooling around.
"So you were serious?! This dream wedding you were talking about... Did you mean our ACTUAL wedding? I thought it was for fun!" I exclaimed.
He nodded. Damn, I kept forgetting how sly he could be.
"So that time when I tagged along to your cousin's wedding boutique to try on dresses for fun..."
"It was real," he confirmed.
"B-but that dress I chose probably costs a lot."
"So?" he remarked.
My eyes widened and I froze, shocked by his reaction.
"Anything for you," he added, pinching my right cheek.
I stared at him for a moment. My insides melted and my heart skipped a beat. Ah, I felt so lucky. Then again, I was still a tad bit worried if he could really afford it. He started walking and spoke up again.
"Actually, it doesn't cost as much as you think and since it's my cousin, I got a discount," he told me truthfully.
Oh. He tricked me again. Oh well, I still love him.
