We had been on the road a full week now. The hobbits stopping constantly to eat. I felt as though we were being slowed down. They laughed and sang merry songs. I didn't understand how they could be so happy in this time of war. I hated traveling with others.
"I take it you do not like our company." Aragorn stated, walking beside me.
"I like the company of no one. Not even my own kin."
"Why is that, Helena? You are beautiful as your sister is. Do not ever think you are not."
"Arwen is the pretty one. I am my father's warrior. she is heir to the throne, I am only the leader of the army. Nothing more."
"You are more than that."
"Thank you, Aragorn." He smiled and then left my side. We were heading now over the mountain. The wind was fierce, blowing us around.
All of a sudden there was an avalanche and I lost my footing. I felt a hand grab onto my wrist and catch me. I looked up to see Legolas holding onto me. He struggled only a little to pull me up because of the falling rock. When he finally pulled me up, we fell into the snow with myself on top of him. I stared into his eyes only a moment and quickly jumped to my feet.
"Thank you, Legolas."
"You are much welcome."
"Gandalf, we must go through the mines of Moria!" Gimli yelled.
"No! It's too dangerous!" I yelled back.
"Let the ring bearer decide!" Gandalf exclaimed.
"We shall go through the mines." Frodo stated.
"So be it." I whispered under my breath.
We ventured to the mines, it was a dark and menacing place. The dwarf obviously thought there was life still left here. I hadn't the heart to tell him otherwise. I would let him find out on his own....
This was a short chapter, but I done that for a reason. Read, review, and vote please.
