We had met our destination and decided to set up somewhat of a camp. Everyone was tired except for me and Legolas because we are elves.

"I'm going to go scout the area. I shall return before nightfall. Don't wait up for me." I said walking away.

"Then I shall go with you." Legolas said.

"I would prefer to go alone if it's all the same to you."

"Helena, we do not know what is out there yet. It isn't safe." Aragorn protested.

"I'm no child and I can smell a nasty orc a mile away. I will be fine." I said walking away again.

I walked for quite awhile before I heard voices nearby. I looked to see Boromir talking to Frodo. I quickly ducked behind the tree and listened in on their conversation. It escalated quickly and before I knew it, Boromir was on top of the small hobbit and they were fighting over the ring. I couldn't watch any longer and I quickly stepped out of my hiding place and gave Boromir a swift kick to the gut. He rolled over holding onto his abdomen in pain. I grabbed Frodo up and we ran to get back to the camp, listening to Boromir in the distance when I heard the sound of quick heavy footsteps in the distance. 'oh no, it couldn't be-' my thoughts were cut short when what I saw nearly 100 yards away proved it. Orcs, but how were they able to be out in the light?

"Run, Frodo! Hurry, find the others, I have to help Boromir!" My elf vision could let me see miles away and I could see the enemy was close. When Frodo didn't move, I pushed him, "Go now, Frodo! Hurry!" His feet finally responded to my command and he ran.

I ran as fast as I could back to Boromir where he was fighting the dark creatures, they had the upper hand and the two small hobbits were trying to help. To me, they were only in the way.

"Move!" I yelled as I ran into the action.

They did as they were told and Boromir and I began to fight the orcs back to back. We fought long and hard until we stopped to stare at the overgrown creature making his way over the small hill.

"I will take him! Get the little ones to safety!" I yelled at Boromir. He done as I said and grabbed the small hobbits up in his arms like children. He would be a good father someday.

I turned my attention back to the task at hand and began to fight the enemy. He was disgusting of course. I went at him with my sword and he blocked my attack, throwing my sword out of hand. He was also abnormally strong for his kind. I then proceeded into hand to hand combat with the vial demon. I went to do a roundhouse and he caught my leg up and twisted it at the knee. I screamed out in pain and he grabbed me up by the throat, my legs dangling like wet laundry. I couldn't breathe, or even tell out for help. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Boromir. "Don't be a hero Boromir, save yourself and the others." I knew he could hear my thoughts because like Galadriel, I could speak into the minds of others.

"No!" He yelled as he charged the creature with his sword, only to be shot at by an arrow from another orc and the orc dropped me.

I caught my breath and jumped to my feet, but I was too late. Boromir had dropped down to his knees as arrows stuck out from all over him. Another life lost because of me. I now had the blood of three people on my hands. My brother, Gandalf, and now Boromir. I looked over to see the others. Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli, but no hobbits. Oh no. They finished the ugly creature and then Aragorn listened to Boromir's last words. I cried and Legolas came to comfort me.

"Where are the little ones?" I asked.

"They're gone, captured by Uruk-hai. We shall give Boromir a proper burial then we must make haste after them. We don't know how long the hobbits have left." Said  Aragorn.

I only nodded and followed their lead. I don't know how much more of this business I could possibly take. Everything that's happened thus far is my fault. Why couldn't I be more like my sister Arwen? She was simple, an obedient princess. I act like a warrior princess. What could I do now?

"Maybe I should go home, back to Rivendell." I simply stated.

"What? What do you mean, Helena? You're a vital part of our company." Legolas said, his face full of shock.

"I meant what I said. I'm going home, I've caused everyone enough pain. My brother, Gandalf, and now Boromir and possibly the hobbits are all dead because of me. It's all my fault."

"What happened to your brother and to the rest of them was not your fault! None of us could save them, we all tried. Please stay, help us save the hobbits and middle-earth!" I could never understand why, but Aragorn had a way with words. He would someday be a good brother in law to me. I looked at Legolas, he had a hopeful look on his face, like he did not want to be the only elf.

"I choose to stay." I said finally. Everyone's faces lit up as best they could under the circumstances.

I had a broken leg and couldn't walk, again Legolas was forced to carry me. I felt so bad....

Ok so tell me what you think. :-)
