Thanks 🗞🗞🗞Julia's POV
To say that The Refuge is Hell is an understatement. They expect us to sleep on wooden planks, to call it a "bed" would be over glorification, and there are at least three boys crammed into these "beds". When we wake up we have Morning Inspection, which is just us standing for what feels like an hour and if the DeLancey brothers or Snyder finds anyone who isn't standing straight, they bring them to the center of the room and beat them with brass knuckles, or a belt, or anything they can find that would hurt.
To say I've slept while I was here would be a huge exaggeration. I can't seem to fall asleep because of how terrible the beds are. So instead of sleeping I'll go over to the window, careful not to be seen by anyone. One night I saw Race walking around! He's done this every night since I got locked up. So I've devised a plan to be able to talk or at least write to him.Time Skip to the morning
After morning inspection I found a piece of paper and started my letter to Race:
Dear Anthony 'Race' Higgins,
Thank you so much for giving me a family again. Despite what you may think, I am happy that you brought me in to be a Newsie. I don't know if you've ever been to the Refuge before, but I have now found out why they say it is worse than death. I'm sorry I got caught, I should have stayed with you. But I'll find a way to get me and the others out don't worry! Sorry this letter is a bit brief hopefully I can write to you again!
Your Dearest,
Julia 'Ink' LancasterI folded up the letter and stuck it into my pocket. And now the hard part came, waiting for night time.
Time Skip
It was finally night. I could see Race making his way towards the Refuge and whistles out a little tune we used to sing when we were kids. It worked! He looked up and saw me! I could see him starting to climb the fire escape that led to my window.
"Julia! You're alive!" Race exclaimed.
"Race keep your voice down! They'll catch you!" I warned. "Here take this before your caught," I handed him the letter. He looked at it nodded and went back to the Lodging House.A/N: Sorry it took so long to write, school had been crazy, but it is kind of calming down now. Quick question if I were to make another book( maybe oneshots) would you guys rather it be about -Broadway/Smash
-Supergirl/ The Flash
-Once Upon A Time
- Or anything else
Hope you guys enjoyed your the chapter, and I should be updating more over Christmas Break (YAAAAAAY!!!!!)
And don't forget to vote!
