Race's POV
It took four boys including me to carry Bones into the Lodging House. It wasn't that he was too heavy or nothin', gosh you could almost see through this kid, he was just so tall!

We had Specs go to find a doctor to fully look at him. From what I saw, he fell but did not bump his head (I caught him 'fore that could happen). Jack says it could be the effects of starvation from the Refuge.

The Next Day

The doctor agreed with Jack, and gave us some medicine for Bones once he woke up, which he eventually did.

"So, Bones, you was tellin' me last night you had a sista?" I ask trying to refresh his memory.

"Yeah, last I saw her she was 13. Gosh, that has to be at least three years ago!" He seems shocked by how long he had been in the Refuge. I mean I would be too.
"Oh, Race," Bones added pulling something out of his pocket, " This is from Ink, she said to make sure you get it."
It was a letter from Ink! I really hope she is all right!

Dear Race,
How are all of the boys? I miss everyone, please send my best wishes to them. I am starting to go through with my plan to slowly free these boys in the Refuge. I hope this won't cause too much trouble between the DeLancey's and the Hattan Newsies. Please stay out of trouble, you always did have a knack for finding it when we were young!
Yours Truly,
Ink
Warning, Race has a bit of a panic attack in this paragraph. Now I'm only writing it like what I know, everyone is different. You have been warned.
Geez, she's really going to do this! I have to write back to her! No, I have to get her out of there! Why didn't I save her! Why didn't I run to her! Why did I let them bring her into this? The paper in my hand starts to get wet for the tears slowly clouding my vision. I didn't realize, but my breath must have sped up, because now I couldn't breathe and was shaking.

"Race!" Bones got up from his bed and came over to where I was sitting. He put a hand on my back to help me calm down and regulate my breathing. "Race, you need to calm down and breathe. Now what happened?"

"It's all my fault!" I cry, "I let Julia get taken to the Refuge and its all my fault!" I start to sob and to tell Bones who pulls me in for a tight (surprisingly because he is such a scrawny kid) hug. He assured me that everything will be ok, and that we will get her out of there.

"Thanks Bones, I-ah really needed to let that out" I help him back to his bed. "You should probably get some rest. We got a big day tomorrow, if you're better enough, you may get to go home!"

A/N: Hey everyone! Sorry for the long break! I am still working on this and Life's More Complicated. I added a Chapter 2, and a little more to Chapter 1 of that so please check it out! Thanks
