Ink's POV
I had my plan to free the newsies here almost all worked out. I just didn't know who would go. I had been talking to Click about this and he says to free Bones, one of the newsies I first met when I came here. He said that Bones is the only one here that he knows of that has a family waitin' for him.

" Hey Bones," I walk over to his bunk where he's sitting.

" Hiya Ink," he says unenthusiasticly.

"Sos I was wonderin, tonight Ise got a buddy from Hattan comin. And I was wonderin if when he left you might want to go with him?" Bones always kept a straight face, never showing any emotion, but I could see it all in his eyes. Excitement, and fear, and happiness, all at once. "But don't go round tellin no one. If anyone asks just tell em that I knows your family or somethin." And with that I walked away.

"Hey Ink!" He shouted, "Thank you."

Time Skip

Night had fallen quickly today and before I knew it I was gettin Bones ready to leave this god awful place. Lucky.

"Alright is his name is Race, and he's gonna take you back to the Hattan Lodgin House until you's fully recovered then hopefully back to wherever you's from." I explained.

"Okay," he said nodding, " Hey Ink, Thank you. I don't got much in life, but I do's got a sista. And the day I got hauled here I thought that I'd neva see her again. Thank you!" He brought me into a surprisingly tight hug. Let's hope that this works.

Race came about ten minutes later. I had already explained my plan to him so he was ready to take Bones.

I fell back asleep thinking of who would be next. I had only known Bones and Click, so in the mean time I should probably make some more friends.

Time Skip to the morning

When we woke up, the DeLanceys did something really unusual. They went around to each bed to check if everyone was here! Why would they do that today if all days! They'll usually just stick their heads in, but today was different.

"The room looks to be about one newsie short," Morris said lurching over each newsie as he made his way down one side, " wouldn't you agree Osca?"

"Oh yes I do agree, Morris. Now which one of you is the smart-ass who thought it'd be funny to let one of you's escape?" Oscar asked. All of the newsies kept their eyes glued to the floor. Until Morris made his way to Click.

"Do you know? I know that you's knows everyone and everything, so who is it?" Morris asked practically standing on top of Click. His eyes shot to me for half a second and then up to Morris, who turned to see me.

"So your the one who helped him leave, huh?" Oscar said dragging me by my collar to the center of the room.
"Now this is an example for ALL you worthless newsies. If I catch one of you trying to escape AGAIN you can make sure I'll beat each of you to a pulp!"

With that Morris and Oscar rah brought out their pair of brass knuckles. 'This wouldn't end well'. As that thought left my head, I felt the cold metal slam into my head. I fell onto the hard splintering wood floor felling another blow to the jaw as I went down. I then felt several kicks to my stomach, and then one to my head. Then everything went black.

A/N: sorry it took so long for this chapter to come out. I am still writing just sometimes I need to rethink some of the scenes and what not. I really hope you all enjoy this book. Make sure to vote and comment!
