The alarm is what first wakes me up.
I sit upright in my bed, making my head feel woozy. I clutch onto my head, because it's throbbing again. I vaguely remember a Gamemaker smashing my head with a spiked club after lying to him, and then blacking out. Yes, I was eavesdropping on them.
My ears also begin to hurt from the noise. I look up to see a large, red light flashing in my room, tinting the entire room red. The blaring sound of the alarm rings in my ears, making me panic. Carly suddenly runs into my room, fright in her eyes.
BOOM!
The thunder shakes the Training Center, and I hold onto my bed to prevent from falling off. I see sparks fly up from the city around us, where lightning just struck. I can hear people screaming just as Carly throws off my covers and starts screaming for me to get up. I'm still woozy from my beating from Snow and the Gamemakers, so it's hard to process through my mind. Wow, it seems like the interviews were weeks ago. It's hard to believe they were only hours ago.
CRACK!
I hear the lightning before I see it. I whip my head to the noise and watch as a massive streak of lightning comes in contact with the ground, inches from the Training Center, shaking the building yet again. A fire erupts from the place where lightning struck, and almost immediately, a deafening clap of thunder roars throughout the Capitol.
"GET UP ZAC!" screams Carly, right in my face. I stand up and hold onto my head, and she helps me walk out of my room. The alarm only gets louder as I exit my room, and the room begins to spin. I drop to the floor, but Carly catches me and helps me walk. We step inside the elevator just as the wind smashes the window right beside my room. The sound of breaking glass mixes with the roar of the wind, producing a terrifying sound. The elevator doors shut, but the alarm still doesn't go away. I look up to see another alarm just above my head, going off like there's no tomorrow. The volume stays the same, and the elevator lurches down. It comes to an abrupt stop, causing me to fall to my knees. Carly picks me up and helps me as I stumble out of the elevator and into the lobby, where all of the tributes, mentors, and escorts are frantically running around, trying to make sense of everything.
As I enter the crowd of people, I am pushed and shoved around, which only adds to my pain. The pain stabs at me and causes the world to spin around me. The alarm blares through my ears and is reflected off of every eye and every mirror. I hear people shouting and screaming as another roar of thunder shakes the building. The storm must be directly above us, while the Training Center gets the worst of it. I look around to see Crystal, but I don't see her anywhere. I don't see anybody from District 11 in here. This almost reminds me of when Zane was killed, except for the raging storm outside. Finally, I spot Jannie. It seems like I haven't seen anybody forever.
"JANNIE!" I shout over the alarm and people's voices. She turns her head towards me and immediately envelopes me in a giant hug, until a massive tribute trips and stumbles ontop of her. She falls to the ground and I help her up, just as another clap of thunder blasts through everybody's ears. This one clap of thunder is louder than any I have ever heard, and I cup my hands over my ears. I look back up to find Jannie gone. The entire room is tinted red and the alarm deafens everybody. I begin to worry about Crystal, who used to be terrified of storms. We used to get them a lot back in District 11, but over time, they stopped coming. I don't remember a storm back home for over 3 years. Of course it rains, but no lightning storms ever come.
