(Open court scene with Ashlynn, Bowie, Rita, Alessya, Joseph, Jackson, Fin, Judge, Balif, Clerk, Reporter, and extras)

Balif: All rise

(Everyone stands)

Balif: Department one of the court is now in session. Judge Harrison presiding. Please be seated.

(Everyone sits)

Judge: Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of the people of the province of Ontario versus Finnigan McNick. Are both sides ready?

District Attorney: Ready for the people your honor.

Lawyer: Ready for the defense, your honor.

Judge: Will the clerk please swear in the jury?

Clerk: Will the jury please stand and raise your right hand?

(Jury stands and raises their right hands)

Clerk: Do each of you swear that you will fairly try the case before this court and that you will return a true verdict according to the evidence and the instructions of the court, so help you, god? Please say "I do".

Jury: I do

Clerk: Please be seated

Jury: *takes a seat*

District Attorney: Your honor and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: The defendant has been charged with the crime of second-degree murder. The evidence will show that Mr. Jazz Allen Adams was found dead on the 15th of last month. That same night Mr. McNick was arrested at the scene of the crime. The evidence I present will prove to you that the defendant is guilty as charged. *Sits back down*

Lawyer: *Stands up and talks to the jury* Your honor and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: under the law, my client is presumed innocent until proven guilty. During this trial, you will hear conflicting evidence against my client. You will come to know the truth, That Finnigan was threatened by Jazz and his actions towards Mr. Adams were out of self-defense. Therefore my client is not guilty.

Judge: The prosecution may call on its first witness

District Attorney: The people call the friend of Mr. Adams, Jackson Reed.

(Balif walks Jackson up to the stand)

Clerk: please stand up

Jackson: *stands*

Clerk: Raise your right hand.

Jackson: *raises right hand*

Clerk: Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you, god?

Jackson: I do

Clerk: Please state your first and last name.

Jackson: Jackson Reed

Clerk: You may be seated

Jackson: *takes a seat*

Reporter: Please spell your last name for the record

Jackson: R-E-E-D

District Attorney: *stands up* Jackson, where were you the night of November 15th, when your friend Jazz was killed?

Jackson: That night Jazz and I decided to go to a funeral for a classmate of ours that currently past, Blair Jones.

District Attorney: How did Mr.Adams and yourself end up in the alley?

Jackson: Fin told us to go outside.

District Attorney: So, you followed him outside?

Jackson: Yes
