Ezra's POV
We finished laughing when our sides started hurting. Sarah was just smiling. I wish she could have seen the look on Kanan's face when they kissed. It was indescribably hilarious!
"So..." Zeb asked, "...what now?"
I shrugged. I had no idea what we were supposed to do other than stay here until the Empire comes too close to finding us.
Sabine spoke up, "I guess we wait."
And so, we did.
Until........
During the next hour............................................
How did they find us?! I thought we lost that spider assassin! I guess I have to apologize to everyone later. I was sure we lost him!
Anyways...
Back to hiding.
We were all hiding in the crevasse of a rock while the Empire shot at us, circling around us until we had no other place to go. We looked around. There were nothing but stormtroopers and barren wasteland around us. We couldn't hide anywhere else.
That was when they came.
It just sounded like the wind next to me at fist, so I did nothing about it. Then, I heard something through the Force, something big.
Then, its nose brushed against by shirt.
I slowly turned around and jumped back immediately.
There was a Lothwolf, standing two stories tall, and its yellow eyes glaring at me. I sensed it trying to tell me something, not with words, but through the Force.
"It wants us to follow him." I whispered to myself.
"Who are you talking about?!" Sabine asked.
I turned to her. She was looking all around me weirdly, as if I were going crazy. I looked back up to the Lothwolf. It shook its head. She couldn't see him. He motioned his head to behind him.
I turned back to everyone else. "Come on!" I yelled. "Grab the person in front of you and follow me!" They did what I said, and I grabbed the Lothwolf's fur. It was amazingly slick, as if it were silk. Slowly, we shuffled behind the Lothwolf.
And everything became bright, so bright that I had to close my eyes, as I'm sure everyone did, too.... well, except Sarah; she didn't have to worry about it. As we walked, I felt as though the ground left us, as if we were walking on air.
And I fell asleep.......
Later............
Kanan's POV
I woke up after what felt like an eternity of sleep. I sat up and realized I was lying down in an open field with only a few rock pillars around us, and not a building in sight. Looking around, I saw everyone else was also asleep. Eventually, everyone started waking up.
Sarah groaned, "What happened? Where are we?"
Sabine looked at her wrist pad. Her eyes grew wide. "We're... we're on the other side of Lothal! Close to the capital. This is... strange. How did we end up here?"
"Them." Ezra said. He pointed out into the distance.
I turned to where he was pointing.
Lothwolves. A whole pack of them.
"They took us here?" Zeb asked.
Ezra nodded.
I was just as confused as Zeb was. That can't be; they're just wolves.
The Lothwolves started running towards us. We all dived out of the way of the wolves, who entered into a hole in a rock pillar behind us.
Sabine told us, "I'll contact Hera and tell her our new location."
"I'll come with you." Zeb added, and walked away with Sabine.
Ezra turned to me. "So... what do we do now?"
I shrugged and looked around. There wasn't much too see other than Sabine and Zeb setting up the long-range transmitter.
I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw Ezra running to a rock. I ran behind him. I had no idea what he was doing, but I might as well follow him. I had nothing else to do, anyway.
He stopped in front of the hole in the rock. I squinted to look into the hole.
I saw two yellow eyes beaming down onto a person.
Sarah.
I walked in first, amazed and terrified at the same time. Ezra quickly followed behind.
It looked like a Lothwolf.
It was a Lothwolf. A fully-grown Lothwolf.
Sarah was.... petting it?! She didn't seem to care what it looked like with its intimidating eyes and the sharp teeth......
Wait.....
She's blind. Of course she can't see it.
Duh.
"That's what led us out the cave!" Ezra said. "But, I don't know how."
"It's Force sensitive." Sarah replied.
"What?"
"It's Force sensitive." I explained to him. "It has an extreme connection to the Force."
"Oh." Ezra said.
The wolf moved its head to my eye level. It spoke one word, and one word only.
"Dume."
The name seemed to hit me harder than a Star Destroyer. My throat felt like it was in a Force Choke. I couldn't speak; I couldn't respond. All I did was take a step back and act like it was just because it came so close to me.
"Dume?" Ezra restated. "What does that mean?"
Sarah looked at me. "Kanan?" She gave a slight reassuring nod, letting me know it was okay to tell him.
I sighed and told Ezra, "Dume. That's my last name. My real..." I regained my composure and completed, "My real name is Caleb Dume."
Really, really, REALLY sorry everything's been taking so long. It is the end of the semester, so that means mid-year finals!!! :-(
I'll be on break really soon, so I'll be trying to write as much as I can and still let my family know I exist. ;-)
See ya!!
