"If you check the back, I'm sure you will find my item," the lady said in a sharp tone.
This lady is a costumer, Lily told herself. I cannot make fun of that haircut, or the fact she wants canned cheeseburgers.
Originally, when the lady walked up to Lily asking for help, Lily almost burst out laughing at the sight of the woman's haircut. Lily couldn't help but move her eyes back to the woman's head. There wasn't anyway to describe the woman's hair. It looked like the woman had coconut hair in the front, but the back and top of her hair reminded Lily of a porcupine. Lily wished she could take a picture.
"Of course, ma'am," Lily said. "Though, I'm pretty sure we don't have any canned cheeseburgers."
"You should have them," the lady said. The lady moved her hand to the back of her head, and patted the hair spikes. "Hurry please, before my hair falls flat."
Lily spun around and made her way to the back of the store to check the stock. She knew the store didn't have any canned cheeseburgers, though she would take the opportunity as a short break.
Lily did a quick once over of the back, to pretend she was looking for something. The security cameras needed to see her look for something, just in case the lady didn't believe Lily when she said she looked. Lily hummed a tune as she started heading back to the main part of the store.
"You got the best of me," Lily sung the lyrics just above a whisper, she didn't think anyone was around. Though she was wrong.
"What song is that?" A voice said, coming from her blind spot.
Lily shot her head to see who asked the question. Really she wanted to bolt back into the store, none of her co-workers knew she liked k-pop. Or at least, she didn't think they knew. A young man, with dark curly hair and tanned skin came into her view, it was Jess.
Lily's eyes traveled up to the man's hair, a perfect ringlet lay in his face. It obstructed his eyesight just a bit, though Jess didn't seen to mind. It slightly bothered Lily, she wanted to reach up and slid it out of his face. Though, she wasn't bold enough to do such a gesture.
"What song?" Lily asked, trying to play it off coolly. I didn't hear a song, Lily convinced herself. What are you talking about Jess?
"The song you were just humming," Jess looked at Lily's face, seeing that she had a raised eyebrow, he dropped it. "It doesn't matter, just wanted an excuse to say something to you."
"And it's only to ask about a song I didn't hum?" Lily said, she started backing up, so she could get closer to the store front. Jess followed her, which Lily had predicted.
"No, it was to ask if you wanted to come to a party at my place?" Jess said, smiling down at Lily.
"When?"
"Tonight, starts at eight, but since you know a guy, you can get in a little early," Jess said.
"I can't tonight," Lily said apologetically. "I have to study since I haven't in awhile."
"I thought you studied last night?"
"Well," Lily said, biting her lip before smiling. "I got distracted, then when I finished with my distraction it was too late, so I slept." Admittedly, Lily had been staying up the past three days, streaming a song called DNA by BTS. It was all worth it to her, she'd do it every day if she could, but this time she had to study. For real.
"And what would this distraction be?" Jess hummed. He was a little disappointed Lily couldn't come over, but other times would arise. "Is it that usual distraction, or something else?"
