The following day we were woken by Emily's alarm. She groaned as she started searching for her phone. I just rubbed my eyes as she got out of bed. When she turned the alarm off she crawled back next to me and kissed me gently.
"Sorry. I totally forgot about school." she whispered.
"It's okay. I'll take you."
"Yeah." she sighed "No more slipping. I want you to be proud of me."
"Make me." I smiled.
"Strange." she snuggled.
"What?"
"I usually don't sleep well. I just feel so relaxed."
"Let's stay a little bit. I'll take you, no worries."
"Are you taking an afternoon shift today?"
"Yeah."
"Can I see you again?"
"So much about slowing down." I chuckled.
"We totally fucked up that part last night. I'm so happy I can be with you." she ran her fingers on my necklace "How come you've never taken this off?"
"I never stopped loving you." I kissed her forehead.
"Okay, way to go sentimental." she rolled her eyes.
"You just love to hear how much I love you."
"True. So, if I drop in when you finish at work..."
"Only if you study as well..."
"Fine, okay, whatever, I will, just let me see you."
"Okay."
"Okay? Don't you wanna see me?"
"Of course I do. It's very hard to let you go. But school's first."
"Yes, mom." she groaned as she kissed me.
Knocking interrupted us. She breathed a sigh but didn't get her eyes off me.
"Devlin, are you awake?" Ally asked from the other side.
"Yes, I'm awake."
"Good, let's talk." she walked in.
She blushed in a split-second. She scratched her scruff as she was looking for words.
"Well, good morning. I didn't know... I didn't think..." she mumbled.
"It's okay." I shrugged.
"I thought you two would just... Well, this escalated quickly."
"What do you want so early in the morning?" I frowned.
"Let's go on a shopping spree. I'm stressed out."
"I don't feel like shopping."
"No, seriously, please!"
"Go with her." Emily looked at me "It can't hurt you."
"Fine." I sighed "Let me get some clothes. I'll drop Em off at school and then I'm all yours. We'll be out in ten."
She waved then left, giving us some space. The girl looked at me smiling.
"What?" I frowned.
"Nothing." she shrugged "I just feel... funny."
"Funny?"
"You know." she said as she stood up and picked up her clothes "It's when... kinda like you lose your favorite toy. You cry over it. No other toy's like it. But then you find it and just can't let it go. And it makes you happy."
