Chapter 5

A New Start

Wind howled in Elsa’s ears. The wind was so strong, that she must have been distracted when her head hit the ground. She felt as if she were floating, gently through the air, with wind rushing around her like a tornado. The wind pushed against her so hard.

This must be heaven…

She felt light, and some of her fear trickled away. Yet she was still too afraid to open her eyes. Another jerk of nervousness came as Elsa was suddenly dropped down, violently into softness. She suspected it was a cloud, and she was an angel. She finally opened her eyes. She gasped.

The calmness of heaven was not what she got as her eyelids opened to reveal she was back in her bedroom. She doubted herself for a moment, wondering if it had all just been a dream. Wait, no; an extremely real nightmare. She looked around to see melted remains of the icicles that had been there. Then her eyes wandered to the window. Her blanket was stuffed between the two glass doors, one side calm and the other flowing violently in the wind. She stumbled toward it, falling toward the windowsill and kneeling at it when she got close. As she was about to pull the blanket free, she noticed a single spot of frost on the pane of glass; it was shaped in a heart.

After Elsa realized she had been given another chance at life, she tried to be more hopeful about the future. She worked on getting ready for her coronation day, getting a dress, learning to do her hair like her mother and practicing holding the traditional scepter, and globus cruciger. Elsa knew in her heart she could never control her powers, and she feared every day that the one day she opened the gates her secret would be opened up too. But she knew she had to try.
