Chapter 13

Our Cold Fight

Jack chased a giggling Queen down the stairs of a beautifully crafted icy staircase. He ended up sliding half way down the stairs in an effort to keep up with Elsa. She might be in a dress but she sure could fly on ice. Jack glided off the railing just as Elsa slid past the front door with a last set of laughs.

“Don’t think you can get away that easy, Queen Elsa!”

Jack laughed himself as he heard Elsa giggle at that response. He burst through the palace doors, was greeted by an empty staircase, which was a gleaming mirror leading down into the puffy snow.

“Come out, my Queen… There’s nothing to be afraid of… Just your buddy JACK!”

Jack yelled out into the mountain range his name as he flung a wave of ice he picked up in a sudden wind. The ice flew over the side of the stair case, and he walked over to see if he’d gotten her. Looking over the edge, he saw nothing but snow. Baffled, he turned around. As he turned he was met with a face full of snow.

“Arg..!!”

Jack spat the snow out and wiped his face, groan turning into a laugh. He pelted a snowball as soon as he could see again right at Elsa’s face.

“Ooof!”

He heard her cry as the snow splattered on her gown. She than began to giggle. He watched as she formed a beautifully crafted, perfectly spherical 2 feet by 2 feet ball of snow. In an instant it was flung at him, and he was sent flying over the railing. Jack lay on the ground. She really was an expert at this game. He was better though. He wiped the mischievous grin off his face, and replaced it with an expression of pain. His eyebrows were tense, and eyes fluttering open and closed. He gripped one side, while his other hand was busy with another project.

“Oww…”

He heard Elsa rush over, stepping delicately into the snow. The laughter had stopped.

“Jack, Jack are you okay?”

Jack could feel her worried stare. This made him want to smile even more.

“Elsa… Come closer…”

Jack spoke in a stained voice. If he could ever be seen by people, he would’ve been great in a play or musical. He turned his head to watch her kneel beside him.

“Jack..?”

Her voice trembled.

“You…”

He winced in feign pain.

“You never win a snowball fight with Jack Frost.”

He let his grin go wide as with his spare hand he sent a pile of powdery snow on top of Elsa. He glided up, in hysterics. He could not stop laughing, with his deep, gentle as the wind laugh. It was only a matter of seconds of this that Elsa popped her head back out of the snow. She looked furious, from the red blush in her cheeks, and frowning, serious look. Her fists were balled up, turning her knuckles pale as a ghost. The look made him laugh even harder.

“Sore loser, are we my Queen?”

Elsa tore her dress out of the snow pile, and stomped over to his gleeful figure.

“What is wrong with you!! Are you insane? I thought I had really hurt you!”

Elsa even went to pushing Jacks shoulders. She turned away, crossing her arms and began to walk away.
