Chapter 11

A New Friend

Run. Run. Run. Just keep going. You aren't far enough yet.

Elsa had no idea where she was going. She had never ventured far from the castle, the farthest she had ever been was to the trolls and that was years ago. Yet somehow she just knew; some voice inside had kept her going. She could just feel the wind pushing her to some place. Or maybe it was just her imagination. But she followed the signs, and invisible paths only known by her instincts. Elsa followed it all the way to a mountain. It loomed high in the sky, covered in snow.

Perfect.

"Wow."

She couldn't help but slow down and look at it's beauty. Evergreens lined it's icy bottom, while at the top it was rocky and had a flawless white cap.

Suddenly, Elsa's attention was diverted to a snowflake which had come from the mountain above. It floated down gracefully, almost directly toward her. She went to touch it, but it flowed out of reach and landed right on her nose. It dissolved into powder on contact, and Elsa was filled with a sudden giddiness. She couldn't help from smiling for the first time since her coronation, and raced up the mountain. Who she was trying to beat was unknown to her, but getting to the top was what really mattered.

It was a while of running until she gained altitude to match the middle of the mountain. She realized she could barely see the land below anymore. Elsa gazed around at the snowy mountains around her. It hit her how isolated they seemed, how icy and alone. She reflected on the events that led her to this place. She realized she missed Anna. In remembrance, she decided to sing a little, like they had used to do as kids.

(I know some people like this singing part, and I kinda do, but I kinda don't. So Im making this part quick. Sorry all the let it go lovers!!)

"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, Not a footprint to be seen. A kingdom of isolation, And it looks like I’m the queen. The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside. Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I tried."

She took a deep breath, feeling her made of verses actually affecting her. It wasn't like she had to hide anymore though. What could she hurt with her curse in a frozen world?

"Let it go, let it go! Can’t hold it back anymore. Let it go, let it go! Turn away and slam the door."

She smiled, and sang a few verses more.

"I don’t care, What they’re going to say

Let the storm rage on, the cold never bothered me anyway."

Elsa took off her cape, and last glove, and let them blow away in the wind. She felt so free. It was a new, but wonderful feeling. She sang a bit more, and even tried to relax a little. After holding back her true potential for so long, it felt amazing to create something rather than repress it. She swirled a flurry one way, then another. She couldn't hurt anybody, she didn’t have to doubt herself anymore. The thought made Elsa smile. She whipped a snow pile around. She even made a snowman, not manually but with the snap of her fingers. She only wished she had a carrot nose for him.

Well, the trolls did tell her the truth about one thing; her powers could be beautiful. She ran to a cliff, and thought of a staircase. Disbelief and joy filled her thoughts as she opened her eyes to reveal a winding structure resembling steps. She ran up them, vibrantly clearing the excess snow off them, and creating a sleek icy pathway.
