I wanted to spend longer with my new friends but I had to work. I was never great in school, in fact I had only just managed to pass with all B’s thanks to Nicole’s tutoring. They weren’t enough to get me into a great job without any experience so I was stuck as a worker for Republic.

I’ve never had a big interest in fashion, just enough to make sure that I looked good, so I found the job pretty boring. I also had to put up with people constantly asking me what I thought was in fashion like hello, every shop updates their stock to the latest fashions! I was stuck in the back in the store room for the next week sorting through the new summer clothes that were just being delivered and frankly I couldn’t wait to get out of here and have a girly night.

Back in school, the girls and me didn’t really accept people into our close little group. Sure, we sat with this bunch of girls at lunch who never really seemed to fit into a clique. We weren’t mean or manipulative and some of us did sports but never really fitted in to the clique of that so-called sport. Some of us looked like we could be part of the rebellious group but we honestly got along with most people. Sometimes I felt like we were forced together because we were just floaters and that’s how me, Nicole and Rosie ended up as best friends.

Rosie was a gossip and cheerleader but could never bring herself to be as mean as the cheerleaders and although Nicole looked like the kind of person you’d expect to hang with skaters or punks she was a big old nerdy softie too. I don’t know what I was but I was happy that they became my best friends.

The only good thing about being in the stock room that week was that I was alone, meaning I could sing and dance to my heart’s content. I always took small travel speakers with me to work and play my music out loud, singing whilst I hang up the clothes on their right hangers according to size.

“Forget the past and all the heartache,

The growing pains that keep you awake.

I’ll sing you to sleep with songs that let you know that we’ll be okay!

Round and round and round this goes,

Playing on your stereos.

When I’m away and you can’t sleep,

Just know that it’s the same for me!”

My voice wasn’t like a cat being strangled but I knew I wasn’t a great singer. Music stopped me being bored though and it always motivated me to actually do something. Bands were the best, people who created their own background music, they also seemed to put the most effort in and it always paid off. I hoped I would see the boys play soon, seen as I knew they were in a band and I couldn’t help wonder how popular their band was doing.

Wondering about their band made me start thinking about Michael and how much I missed his hands on me. Sure, I missed other things about him like his smirks and bluntness but he always left me wanting more. It’s like I was addicted.

13:20 Natalie: hang this weekend? X

I didn’t even think before I pressed send, it had been nearly two weeks since we went to that Italian place with everyone else.

13:31 Michael: I was about to text you babe, I’ll pick you up at 2 on Saturday x

I tried to find out where we were going but he was being a stubborn bastard for the rest of the week and blew off my questions with texts telling me it’s a surprise or good things come to those who wait.  It was really starting to aggravate me and by the time I had slipped on some black jeans, a burgundy baggy vest top and a comfortable leather jacket I was thoroughly annoyed that I had no idea.

I flopped down on my bed and waiting for the buzzer that would let me know Michael was at the bottom of my block of flats. I couldn’t afford a big flat and me, Nicole and Rosie were hoping to save up and move in together in a couple of years.

Once the buzzer finally went I slipped on some burgundy doc martin type of boots and grabbed my phone before I flew down the stairs; the elevator had a tendency to get stuck and considering that was one of my biggest fears I always avoided it.

When I got to the bottom I flung the door open and rushed straight to Michael’s car, completely ignoring him at my door. I jumped in his car and tapped my foot impatiently, waiting for him to hurry the hell up.

“What’s the rush, babe?” Michael seemed to be moving slowly on purpose and it was just annoying me more.

“I want to know!” I let out an exasperated sigh, crossing my arms as he chuckled. What kind of horrible person purposefully annoys their friend? Michael. That’s the kind of horrible person.

It wasn’t until we were driving on some motorway that I took in his outfit. He had a rolling stones tank on with a flannel top and plain, extremely skinny jeans. His leather jacket was tossed by my feet and his fingers drummed on his wheel as we drove. His fingers that had given me so much pleasure. A blush crept up on me as I realised what I was thinking and I quickly turned my head to look out of the window.

There was no conversation, just Michael chuckling at the annoyed expression I knew was plastered to my face. It wasn’t awkward though and I relaxed into the seat, happy that I was in Michael’s company again after so long.

When the car stopped I had no idea where we were. The building was huge and the parking lot was half-filled with cars. I was hesitant to get out as to me, the place looked kind of shady but Michael was waving his hands at me from a few feet away, beckoning me to him.

He wasn’t even going to open my door for me. To think some guys try to say chivalry isn’t dead. I stopped in front of him, hands on my hips, hoping I looked demanding. I’d say I want to be intimidating but considering his enormous height, I think that would be impossible.

“Why for holy jesus christ’s sake have you dragged me to the middle of nowhere?”

His lips twitched up into that stupid smirk as he stated, “Rock-climbing.”

“You have to be kidding me.” I deadpanned.

I know I said I was going to put my story on hold but I've had a lot of inspiration and who even cares about revision, I've screwed up anyway. This is kind of a filler chapter, if I included the rock-climbing I know it would be way too long so sorry about that :D

The picture at the side is the boots she would wear, they look so nice and I know they might not be everyone's idea of a good pair of shoes I love them c:

The video is the song that Natalie was singing near the beginning of this chapter, I love Neck deep so so so much!

Please vote/comment it means so much xo
