Warning: Guns, Riffles (It's a Police Station.)

"It's that time of year again." Addad said during the meeting.

Everyone, day and night shifts, were all in the same meeting that morning.

"What time?" Terry asked.

"The Gun Range Test." Addad said.

"Why do we do this every year? Can't it be like... every two years?" Valaries yawned widely.

"Get more coffee. And we have to. Although, ranking you all based solely on your ranges might be a bit much." Addad said.

"Don't forget that we have to get Anderson's ranges!" Lolli smirked.

"You have them from Metropolis though." Anderson said.

"Well... You're not official BPD until we have your ranges filed by Addad." Malkore said.

"Wait. I haven't been an official BPD Detective for 5 months?!"  Anderson freaked out.

"Are any of my cases even legal in court?" Anderson yelled.

"Well...remember how we always have you paired with either or both Malkore or Lolli?" Ylang asked.

"Yes..." Anderson looked at her.

"To meet certain requirements, we had to say that your were doing some job shadowing before you can be fully transferred. So, either Malkore or Lolli are, on paper, the lead Detectives on all your cases, that way, they hold up in court." Ylang said.

"Why wasn't I told this?" Anderson asked.

"But none of that affects your pay or anything. As soon as we get ranges, then we can transfer the leading Detective's names...and payroll." Addad said.

"Wait. I'm still on Metropolis payroll?" Anderson asked.

"We work together to get you on Bludhaven payroll. It all works out." Addad said, "But as soon as you take the Range test, you'll be an official member and everything will go smoother in accounting." Addad joked.

"Well, Rookie, think you can finish up the case while I'm gone?" Amy asked.

"Yep! And I'll have coffee made when you get back!" Richard smiled brightly.

"Wait. Rookie isn't coming with?" Anderson asked.

"He's a certified Marksman. He doesn't have to have another test for two years unless eyesight dramatically drops." Addad said.

"No way." Anderson denied.

Richard pulled out his wallet.

"Military certified." Dick showed him the card he had to carry at all times.

"That's one hell of a range, Rookie." Anderson stared wide-eyed.

"Yep." Richard put the card back.

"A dead shot too. Why aren't you in the army? Hell, why aren't you promoted?" Anderson asked.

"I like where I am! Besides, what would Amy do without me?" Dick joked around.

"Oh, the horror of not seeing you everyday!" Amy gasped dramatically and pretended to faint.

"I know! It'd just be awful!" Richard exclaimed.

Everyone burst out laughing.

"Well, lets get Anderson's range!" Lloyd smirked.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, we have the standard handgun. And then you'll be tested on a riffle." Addad said.
The okay was given and Anderson picked up his handgun.
A few moments later, the target was pulled towards them.
"Dead shot." Addad recorded.
"Now, riffle time." Addad said, leading Anderson over to the longer range.
A few gunshots later, and Addad was writing again.
"Not bad. We're going to do it one more time. I'm going to adjust the target though." Addad said.
More gunshots, and the target was back.
"Okay. Not bad at all. Great with your handgun. A dead shot with it. And you're just slightly over the average with your riffle." Addad said.
"Not the best." Anderson grimaced.
"Don't try to compare yourself with Grayson's shooting. No one, even myself, could get close to his range. He took one look at the target and then looked at me while he shot. Got all the bullets in one hole, straight in the bull's eye." Addad said.
"Isn't that target framed somewhere?" Terry asked.
"It's in the small gun range back at the station." Addad said.
"Why aren't we doing this there then?" Anderson asked.
"It's too easy. This range is bigger, so we can get a more accurate range." Addad explained.
"Now, who's next?" Addad yelled.
"I'll show you all how it's done." Lloyd smirked his cocky smirk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Yeah, showed us all how it's really done." Lolli smirked, laughing.

"Damn that smells good!" Shalt said as they all walked back into the BPD.

The smell of fresh, strong coffee flowed through the air.

"Rookie?" Shnall looked around.

Valeries tapped Amy's shoulder and pointed to the wooden bench.

Richard was curled up, taking a nap.

Amy chuckled quietly as Dick snored softly.

"He got your cases done." Malkore pointed to Grayson's out-box on his desk.

It was full of done cases, ready to be filed.

Lolli was about to walk over and wake Rookie up when Addad grabbed her shoulder.

"Let him sleep for a bit." Addad said, "Go help Amy file some of those cases."

"He's just full of surprises, isn't he?" Anderson asked.

"Yep. That's Rookie for you." Terry said.
