Chapter 69 - Responsible

Baekhyun

I stared down until Uncle broke the silent.

"I guess you can't help but felt guilty with what you doing. Then, I don't think I have to keep this from you guys anymore."

I looks at Uncle. He smiles and put an envelope on the table. I takes the envelope.

"What is this, uncle?", I asked as my hand open the envelope.

"You friend's patient result."

I look at uncle, shocked and take out a few of paper inside the envelope. I read what was written on the paper. My eyes turns bigger as soon I read it.

"T-This is........", I stuttered to said something.

Chanyeol grabs the paper from my hand and read it. Yoojoung glanced at the paper too since she also curious what was written on it.

"You're right. Hyekyo's condition is very unstable."

"W-Wait a minute, uncle. What do you mean she was unstable?", Chanyeol asked.

"It's just like what you guys see what's written on that paper. In other words, she was mentally sick."

"Mentally sick?", Yoojoung said.

"Yes. The doctor was in charged on her said she was refused to take medicine. She didn't talk at all after she was admitted here. The nurse also said she always daydreaming and dozing while looking at out the window in her room. She only eat and sleeping but I can't say she did eat and sleep comfortably."

"So, you meant she's like someone who only wait for her death?"

"Well, you can say that."

We didn't say anything quite long until Yoojoung said she want to go back. Chanyeol did also. So, me too. But, Uncle said he has something to tell me so he told Chanyeol and Yoojoung to go first.

"What's you want to talk about?"

"I didn't said just now to them because I thought they would worried. So, I decided to tell you only."

"Is it about Hyekyo?", I asked.

Uncle nods before he continued.

"I don't know how to tell you but I guess I'm just going to said it."

I waits for him to continue.

"Baekhyun-ah, I don't know exactly what was wrong with her."

"What do you mean?"

"You remember, the day you brought Hyekyo here before?"

I nods.

"I don't know either it was true or not but the way I look at her eyes when I met her for the first time, it was totally dead, Baekhyun-ah."

I was shocked by Uncle's word but tell him to continue.

"You know right, she did find a patient named Kim Miyoon. It was her mother. I mean her real mother."

"H-How do you know?"

"Hyung told me everything."

"Abeoji did so?"

"Hmm.. He also said that Hyekyo must related with the fire 14 years ago."

"The fire?"

"I know you can't remember about it because you was trauma and scared of the incident."

"Wait, uncle. What are you talking about? The fire? What do you mean by the fire? Don't tell me the fire that happened 14 years ago that killed my biological parents."

"It is, Baekhyun-ah. I know you know half of the story since Hyung told you but there's something he didn't tell you."

"W-What is it?", I asked as my heartbeat was beating crazily inside.

"The fire that killed your real parents was not by President Kang. It was right that President Kang killed your father but the fire that killed everyone in that house 14 years ago was not his doing."

"W-What are talking about? Dad told me that President Kang killed my parents and the guests on that day by starting the fire. He told me that my real father gave me to him to take care of me."

"Yes, it was what I believe 10 years ago before I found out something that you can't imagine."

I quietly listened to him.

"The one who started the fire was Hyekyo, Baekhyun-ah".

Suddenly, my heartbeat stop beating like I was dead. The thing that I can't even had in mind was happening right now.

There's no way that was happening.
Kang Hyekyo was the one you started the fire? Why?

So that's mean she was the one who responsible of what happened 14 years ago?

I waited for Baekhyun at the hospital lobby. Yoojoung was going back. I told her to go back and I will wait for Baekhyun. I looks the watch on my wrist. It was almost 20 minutes since Baekhyun's uncle want to talk alone with him. What are they talking about anyway?

Then, I see Baekhyun get out from elevator. I want to greet him bit his expression make me stop.

He look concerned and......lost...
