Chapter 70 - Alone

"I'm back", I said weakly and look at Mom who standing near the sink, washing the dishes.

I walks towards her and hug her waist from behind. I put my chin on her shoulder. She always smells nice. She look shocked by my sudden action and chuckled.

"What are you? A baby? Don't you ashamed hugging your mother at your age?", she said and chuckled.

"Why would I ashamed? You're still my mom whether I grown old or still a baby."

I heard her chuckled while pushing my hand that hugging her waist tightly from behind. She said I was on her way doing her work. She always did the house core whenever she was free even though we already a million maids.

She said that was not wrong to help them. That's why Mom was really close with every maid in our house. She even gave a present towards her maid when their birthday coming. She always sweet and Dad can't stop her doing the house core since she keep doing it even Dad told her no to do so.

Mom always warm with everyone. She didn't care about her rank in this house as Madam. Sometimes she did the laundry and gave her precious flowers water. Even the maid felt awkward and sorry for their madam doing the works.

I smiled when remember how warm person was Mom is. Mom noticed me smiling and hit my back. I shouted a bit since she was hitting hard.

"Go upstair and take a shower. We going have a lunch soon."

"Arasseo. But Mom, is Dad going to be home during the lunch time?", I asked her.

"I guess. He didn't called me means he would coming home then", she said while wiping her hand on the towel.

I nods and going upstair. I close my room's door and crashed my back on the bed. I closed my eyes as what Uncle said just now keep playing on my mind.

"What do you mean Hyekyo was the one started the fire? She was there?"

"Just like you know, Hyekyo's father, President Kang wants BaekSang and he would do anything to make sure that company become his. From what I know, he lied about his record that day he should go abroad. He make sure anyone knew he was at Seoul that time. He came to the party which was held at your house. Han Jaesil, your real father actually know President Kang was at Seoul that time and he held the party to bait him to come."

"What do you mean by bait him to come? Are you saying that Han Jaesil was let President Kang killed him?"

"I guess so."

"But why?"

"I can't tell you the reason because I can't find the answer of that question. Anyway, a day before that night Kim Miyoon was coming to that house. She brought her twins together. She told you real mother to take care of her twins. She gave the twins to your mother and she left the house. She said she will coming get her children at night. The night when your birthday party was held."

"She should dead on the fire but she didn't. She create a character to approach to Hyekyo and lied to her. She working with President Kang to lied to Hyekyo and make sure Hyekyo help them. She did the same with Hyekyo's brother."

"But why do you said Hyekyo was the one who started the fire?"

"The police believe that the fire started because of an explosion at the kitchen. They did investigated the scene where they found an acid bottle near the gas tank. They believe that the gas tank was leaked and the gas combined with the acid and then the explosion happened. When they tried to find the fingerprint on the acid bottle, it was gone because it was burnt. But I found something that tell me Hyekyo was the one who did that."
"What is it?"

"A shell."

"A shell?"

"Yes. The cracked one. The police believe that it was the criminal's since it was inside the acis bottle. It didn't resolve in the acid. When I investigated the fingerprint on the cracked shell, I found it was Hyekyo's."

"But if 14 years ago, she's only 5 years old. How can a kid 5 years old did that?"

"I guess they called her genius for nothing."

"But why the cracked shell didn't mentioned on the news of that incident?"

"I found it after the case was closed and they decided to ignore the proof that I found."

"Why would they do that?"

"Someone must told them to do so."

"Don't tell me........"

"I'm sure it must President Kang. He knew Hyekyo was the one who did that and he cover the real story and told the whole nation half of the story. He did that to make sure Hyekyo help him to get that company. And he did very well."

"Hyekyo did help him."

"You can't say that. She did that to find the real what happened 14 years ago. You might saw she helping her father but actually she did that for herself."

"Kill innocent people and suffering anyone who got in her way? I can tell she worst than her father."

"Baekhyun-ah. Someone did tell me long time ago. We can't know a person until we reach their heart."

"What do you mean?"

"It' s same with a word don't judge a book by its cover."

"What are talking about?", I asked, still didn't understand him.

"We cannot tell what was in Hyekyo's mind because we didn't tried to understand her. The way she thinking, the way she did that and the way she talk. We cannot understand them until we are sincere wants to understand her."

I quietly listened to him.

"She was alone. She didn't have anyone to trust. That's why she did the worst thing to make sure she survived. Of course she did something bad. Really bad. I can't denied it. But, she didn't have any choice. She was cold. Like I said she like a dead person. But the fact is she was afraid. Can you imagine she was living like a hell for past 14 years until now?"

"I know someone who just like her. She was cold and admitted here when she was still young. Even though I was no help to her but the fact that no one was beside her to help her was something that we can't imagine that would happened to us."

"That someone you said is Kim Miyoon, right?"

"Yeah. Hyekyo was just like her mother. She was alone. No one was there beside her. She can't tell what's on her mind because she didn't have anyone to share with her. She's afraid, Baekhyun-ah. She was too lonely. I was really regret the day I let Kim Miyoon go without she ever felt a thing you called warmness."

Present

I look at the ceiling above me. It was too far too reach. Just like Hyekyo. She was too far away from me that I can't reach. Uncle told me she was alone and afraid. Maybe I was too harsh on her without I know her situation.

Situation where everyone turn their back to you and point the finger for everything to you. And you can't tell how pain and how scared you are in that situation because you had no one.

The situation that Hyekyo always go through. She was........alone..

I didn't even had a thought she would feel that way. She was way too......alone......

I ruffled my hair. It sucked every time I think about Hyekyo. I go to the toilet to take a bath and going down to have lunch with Mom and Dad with Hyekyo still in my mind.
