I sat down on the bed, contemplating what so say or if I should even say anything. Kai had left a while ago and I was left to cope. I loved my siblings very much and nothing in the world would change my mind about that. I had never been exposed to something like this so closely, though.

"Jess." Jess wove her hand in front of my face, attempting to snap me out of the trance I hadn't realized I was in.

"What," I asked, shaking my head to re-adapt to my surroundings after that trance.

"What are we going to do about that note? Kai is going to be fine; don't worry about him. All the advice that I can give you on that is to support him," she said, staring at me with her blue eyes.

"I definitely will try, I love him very much. About the note thing, I don't know what to do. I could call him, but ughhh." I sighed heavily.

"Why don't you just call him? I mean you could ask about the 'abilities' and how he got them or whatever," Jess said motioning with her hands, wildly.

"Fine, I guess I will," I said picking up my phone and hovering my finger over the keypad.

"Just do it, I'm right here," Jess said softly.

I dialed the number slowly, hesitating before pressing the call button. "I'm scared," I said, looking to Jess for help.

Before I could react, Jess pressed the call button. The ringing seemed to last for years, my face stuck in an anxiety-ridden, colorless mess.

"Hello," a confident voice on the other line said in a deep, almost husky voice.

"H-hi--uhh...It's Jess, Sam's sister," I said, attempting to hide the nervousness in my voice.

"Oh, hey. So, um, what's up," he asked in an awkward voice.

"Sorry for calling you so sudden, I can just call back later. This was a mistake, sorry for wasting your time," I said quickly.

"Wait, wait, wait. No, it's fine you aren't at all wasting my time," he said, speaking up louder, obviously  not wanting me to hang up.

I stayed quiet, not knowing what to say.

He paused for a second before saying, "So, um, what did you want to talk about?"

"I'm sure you have some questions for me too, but I--uh--wanted to ask you about our minds," I paused, "and why that happened," I finished.

He took a second to take it in before speaking. "So you can read minds too," He asked softly.

"Y-yes," I managed to choke out.

"How did this happen to you," he asked in a soft voice, again.

I choked on my own spit. "It's kind of a confusing story," I said.

"I have time if you want to try to explain it to me," he said in a kind voice that seemed to reach my heart.

"S-sure, um do you want to meet at a park," I asked, softly.

"Sure. Which one?"

I took a deep breath, "The one on the corner of third and central."

He seemed to take a deep breath again. "I'll meet you there," he sighed.

"Bye," I said and hung up.

"That's the park near where the accident happened wasn't it," Jess spoke up, finally.

I nodded, getting up and putting on warm clothes.

"I'll just stay here. Be safe and update me," Jess said as I walked out of my room.
