I walked inside my house feeling a little dazed. I just wanted the voices to quiet down for a little so I could sleep peacefully, but it seems like I have a life-long test, I thought to myself as I walked up the stairs to find a sleeping Jess on my bed. She looked so comfortable I couldn't help but crawl into the sheets next to her, falling into a deep slumber despite the loud voices coming from the house.—
I woke up the next morning with a pair of arms wrapped around my neck not-so softly.
"Jess," I managed to choke out, attempting to wake her up.
"What," she asked in a groggy tone.
"Move your arms, you're strangling me," I said, trying to move them myself.
She moved her arms, pushing me a little in the process. "So what happened yesterday with that guy," she asked.
"Seamus," I corrected her.
"Ya, that guy," she finished rolling her eyes in the process.
"He and I apparently got our 'powers' from the same thing. So we know the source and we do know that the incident changed both of our eye colors," I finished.
"That's strange. What color eyes does he have?"
"A beautiful violet," I responded, almost too quickly.
"No," she nearly yelled.
I shot up at her reaction. "What?!"
"You like him," she said loudly.
"Shut up! No, I don't. Boys are idiots and unkind," I said denying it.
"Yes, yes, I'm sure. You only can base that off your brothers," she said with a raised eyebrow.
"Exactly: I know," I respond.
"You don't know," she said back.
"That's mean! You can't just accuse me of that," I said, fighting her words.
"I am mean, but you like him!"
"So what if I did? He would be able to tell. There would be no secrets whatsoever," I said, finally giving in.
"I knew it!" she said, pumping her fist up in the air. "Why would you need to keep secrets in the first place?"
"I don't know; surprises," I said matter-of-factly.
"Well, there is no reason you can't try. I think it would be a good thing. I mean, a couple that literally cannot keep secrets sounds good to me," she said.
"I guess, but that still doesn't mean he likes me back," I again said.
"No reason you can't try, right?" She fought back, before sniffing the air and jumping out of the queen sized bed.
"What?"
"Breakfast, you mind-reader." She said, giggling as she pulled me out of bed.
"You know I can just read your mind, but then you would just have a silent conversation all by yourself," I said laughing.
"Food smells delicious," she said again as she pulled me down the stairs.
"Yeah, yeah. 3, 2, 1," I said, knowing what was going to happen.
"Jess!" My mom yelled from the kitchen as I said "one."
I giggled to myself. "It's fun," I said again as we walked into the dinning room.
"Mind-reader," she mumbled.
"Yeah? Short one," I fired back, laughing.
"No! I'm sensitive about my height," she joked.
"I know, I can read your mind," I said again laughing way too hard.
"Jess come get your food and stop torturing each other," my mother said, laughing a little as well.
