Everyone questioned what was going on, but no one had the guts to say anything.  Not only was there a problem with my father, but whatever happened with Jess was probably going on at the same time.

I got out of the car after my mother parked it in our drive way. My dad's car was gone, and I'm sure he didn't have any intention of coming back tonight. Although that was best for the rest of the family.

We all walked in, not knowing what to say and splitting into all different directions. Jess and I going to my room, one of the seven in our family's large house.

She followed close behind me, almost as if she thought I was going to start running.

I opened my door, letting her in first. She slowly made her way to my bed, where she laid down wrapping herself in the covers. I followed and laid down next to her, also wrapping myself in the covers.

"Do you want to tell me what happened," I asked, although I already knew.

She nodded, looking up to the ceiling. "My parents went out for the week and left my cousin and I alone in the house. Although I told them I didn't feel comfortable with that," she said pausing for a second.

"Okay, so let me get this straight. Your parents left you home alone with your pedophile cousin, because he's so irresponsible that he can't even stay home alone," I asked, but mostly stated.

She nodded, her eyes becoming red. "It was fine the first day, but I just stayed in my room after school. Today was different I got home and a whole bunch of his friends were at the house. I asked them to please leave and once they didn't I was just going to go to my room when one of them said s-something," she said, getting choked up at the end. "I went to my room and I was going to call you and see what was going on with you, because I didn't feel comfortable in the house. But as soon as I got into my room he followed me with a bunch of people. They-" she paused, tears forming in her bright green eyes.

"They handcuffed and harassed me," She said, not able to say much more.

I hugged her tightly, not letting her out of my firm grasp. "You're not going back until your parents are back and we've spoken with them," I said, looking her directly in the eyes.

She nodded slowly, thinking.

"I can sleep on the floor," she said, stretching a little.

I stood up, stretching as well, "Yeah, no. You stay in the extra bedroom or in here as long as you don't sweat this time," I said with a laugh.

"I'm sorry, you shoved all the blankets on me," she said, pushing me softly.

"Don't blame me, you could have pushed them right back," I said, smiling and sticking my tongue out at her.

"Put that nasty thing back," she said, poking my upper lip.

"Shut up," I said laughing.

"You know what I'd wish for if I had one wish," she asked, laying back onto the soft comforter.

I followed her actions, laying back onto the bed, "What," I asked her softly.

"I would want to read minds so I knew what people thought of me and just, what they'd say. I would know everything!" She finished her sentence loudly, with a wide smile on her face that could improve anyone's day and no one could argue that.

I took a deep breath,"I can assure you don't want to know what people think of you, and what some people think is absolutely disgusting." I suddenly took interest in the fluffy carpet beneath us.

She looked at me confused, "How would you know," she asked softly, bringing her knees closer to her body.

I sighed somewhat afraid of what she might say or think , "I can read minds,"
