Zayn's POV
I knew it.
The second Gemma walked toward us with that fake smile on her face, I knew chaos was coming.
And if I was being honest?
I was a little excited.
"Hey..." Gemma said, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Didn't expect to see all of you here."
"Funny," Harry said coldly. "We were about to say the same thing."
Her smile faltered.
Christine leaned back in her seat, arms crossed.
"I thought you were in Scotland."
"I was," Gemma said quickly.
"Were?" Liam repeated.
"For work."
"With him?" Louis asked, pointing at the man still sitting at her table.
Gemma glanced back.
The guy stood up and walked over casually, like he had no idea he'd just entered a battlefield.
Tall.
Well-dressed.
Too confident.
"Babe, everything alright?"
The entire table went silent.
Harry slowly turned to Gemma.
"Babe?"
Gemma went pale.
The bloke noticed us properly now and straightened.
"Oh—wait. One Direction." He laughed awkwardly. "Right. Didn't notice."
No one cared.
He looked at me, then Niall, then Christine.
Then his eyes widened.
"Oh. Oh no."
"What?" Niall asked sharply.
The guy scratched the back of his neck.
"Um... I should probably introduce myself."
"Yes," Christine said sweetly. "You really should."
He swallowed.
"Tyler Craig. Vice President of Horan Corporation."
The table erupted.
"You're WHAT?" I shouted.
Niall stood up so fast his chair nearly tipped.
"You work for my family company?"
Tyler looked trapped.
"Yes?"
"And you're dating her?" Harry demanded.
Tyler blinked. "Yes?"
Christine's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Interesting."
Gemma snapped.
"Stop making this a big deal!"
"A big deal?" Harry stared at her. "You told everyone you were in Scotland for business!"
"I am on business!"
"With your boyfriend?" Louis asked.
"Yes—no—I mean—"
"Gemma," Christine said, voice icy, "aren't you forgetting one tiny detail?"
Gemma glared at her.
"What?"
