I missed Nathan. Only another week, but it had taken all my will power not to say “screw you” to the last week of school and join him on tour. Sadly, I also had the first live show coming up. The judges house had gone well- Amy and I didn’t get eliminated, so that’s all that mattered for me. Wow. Performing live on TV was a big deal. No pressure.  I checked Twitter before going to bed for the night. It had become a habit. I was addicted.

~1 week later~

Deep breaths. You have to sing. Your voice can not shake.  Nathan was coming home tomorrow, he was probably watching. Just make him proud. Who am I kidding? I was about to crap in my pants. “Next up, is Emma singing Gold Forever!” I cracked a smile at how the boys would be reacting to me singing one of their songs.

“You got this, go for it!” Amy said passing me as I walked onto the stage. Whew.

Say my name like it's the last time,

Live today like it’s your last night,

We want to cry but we know it’s alright,

‘Cause I’m with you and your with me,

Butterflies, butterflies...we were meant to fly,

You and I, you and I...colors in the sky,

We could rule the world someday, somehow but we'll never be as bright as we are now.

We're standing in a light that won't fade,

Tomorrow's coming but this won't change,

Cause some days stay gold forever.

The memory of being here with you,

Is one I’m gonna take my life through,

Cause some days stay gold forever.

Promise me you'll stay the way you are,

Keep the fire alive and stay young at heart,

When the storm feels like it could blow you out remember, you got me and I got you..cause we are, butterflies, butterflies..we were meant to fly,

You and I, you and I...colors in the sky,

When the innocence is dead and gone,

These will be the times we look back on.

We're standing in a light that won't fade,

Tomorrow's coming but this won't change,

Cause some days stay gold forever.

The memory of being here with you,

Is one I’m gonna take my life through,

Cause some days stay gold forever.

I won't, I won't let your memory go cause your colors they burn so bright,

Who knows, who knows what tomorrow will hold but I know that we'll be alright

Butterflies, butterflies...we were meant to fly,

You and i, you and I...colors in the sky,

We could rule the world someday, somehow but we'll never be as bright as we are now.

We're standing in a light that won't fade,

Tomorrow's coming but this won't change,

Cause some days stay gold forever.

The memory of being here with you,

Is one I’m gonna take my life through,

Cause some days stay gold forever.

I was thoroughly enjoying myself by the end of the song. Before I could turn to walk off the stage, I saw people running towards me. I was then completely surrounded by a group hug.

“Oh my gosh! You guys are back!”  Everyone started going away from the hug, but Nathan’s lingered a few seconds longer. I was so happy to have him back.

“So, how do you know Emma?” The host asked.

“Em’s our neighbor and we love her like a sister,” Max answered for us.

“So, she’s not Nathan, Tom, or Jay’s girlfriend,” he probed.

“We are single as ever,” Jay answered. He and Izzie were trying to keep their relationship a secret, but rumors had been circulating that he wasn’t single. The funny thing was, Tom was the only single one left.

“If you say so,” the host said winking, “so, if you want Emma to come back next week call,” and then he rattled off my number as all of the guys made the call me sign. I was laughing so hard. I walked into the dressing room and spotted Amy watching the five second delayed TV.  I remembered how Amy told me once that she was a huge fan of The Wanted. I wonder if she’ll fan girl…

“Hey Amy, I’ve got some people I think you’d like to meet after we change.”

Her jaw dropped, “wait, you… mean… t… them…” she said pointing to the screen.  Yep, she was going to fan girl. I nodded. She sat down and took off her stage makeup while I slipped out of my dress.

“Ready?” I asked. She nodded. I grabbed her hand and took her to where the boys were waiting backstage.

“Hey guys! I’d like you to meet Amy. Amy, this is Max, Tom, Siva, Nathan, and Jay.”

“Hi,” she said, sounding confident. Wow. She pulled that off. No funny fan girl moments for me… She and Tom were making goo-goo eyes at each other. Why do my girl friends always fall for my guy friends?

“Want to come out to dinner with us,” Max asked Amy and I. I wasn’t the only one noticing then.

“Sure!”

“Sounds fun,” she said. We all walked out and got into their van. Dinner was fun. Nareesha and Michelle had come, so all of the boys had their girlfriend with them, well, not Tom, but it wasn’t far away if my instincts were correct.

“Hey, I’ve got to go to the bathroom, anyone else?”

“Yeah,” she groaned, seeing that I wanted to talk. Getting up, I saw her and Tom’s hands untangle. In the bathroom, I looked around to make sure no one was in any of the stalls, and I turned to face her.

“Look, you’re the only person out there who doesn’t know, but only the people out there know what I’m about to tell you. I have to know, though, that you’ll not say anything,” I gave her a meaningful glance and she just nodded, “I’m dating Nathan.” It was still weird saying that.

“Oh,” she said, knowing crossing her face, “that’s who you were talking to at boot camp!” I nodded. We returned to dinner, which was funny. Everyone kept cracking jokes about Amy and Tom. Once we got back to the house, I finally got the kiss I had wanted from Nathan. Man, I had missed him.

“I missed you,” he said in my ear.

“I missed you too,” I said, hugging him tightly. He was back and I didn’t want to ever let him go again.
