A few months later

I took one last look around the apartment. Goodbyes should come easily to me after having so many, but I always felt like I was leaving part of myself behind. At school, I said goodbye to my friends, promising to stay in touch. What a joke. I knew that for a month or so I'd talk to them regularly. Then maybe get an email on New Years. Then I'd never hear from them again. I didn't have a boyfriend to say goodbye to.

We got on the plane the next morning. After several connecting flights, we were on our way to London. We arrived at about seven in the morning, and I was dead on my feet because I didn't sleep well on planes. When we arrived at the apartment, I went to what would be my room. The furniture was due later, so I grabbed a pillow and crashed on the ground.

I awoke to the sound of my mom letting the movers in. I ran into the den to help unpack and make sure my things made it where they needed to go.

After the movers left I began to organize my things. Our cable and internet weren't hooked up yet so I had to do something.

Three weeks later

"Emma!"

"Yeah mom," I said running into her room and dropping my school things on the sofa. I didn't hate school, but it wasn't the best I'd been to. I had made a group of friends, so at least I wasn't the crazy girl from not only the US but from Texas. Do you know how many times I got asked how many horses and cows we owned? And no, we didn't have any if you were wondering.

"You've been such a trooper that I have a surprise for you," I was worried. My mom had a history with "surprises". Once she had taken me to a self confidence seminar for my good grades. It was more of a punishment than a treat, "I got you and a few of your friend's tickets to see The Wanted. They're here in..." My screaming cut her off. I'm going to see my favorite band of all time! One upside to moving to London was that there were a lot more of their songs out than in the U.S.

"I know there here in London I just didn't think I'd get to go to their concert!" I ran out and called my friends to invite them. I couldn't wait to go. I ran back into my mom's room with my phone, "Uh mom, where are the seats?"

"Ten rows back" she replied giving me a grin. I screamed again and went back to planning.

In the end, I went with four of my close friends and we queued to get in. The only thing that I knew for sure was that the best night of my life was beginning.
