"Jiwoo."
She recognized the voice as her managers. "Yes sir?" She asked as she quickly shimmied into her army green shirt.
"Are you in the locker room?" He asked.
Jiwoo, having just let down her hair hurried to the door, "no sir I'm coming out." She replied quickly while heading for the door.
But he opened it just as her hand had braced the cool metal. He walked into the women's locker room shamelessly. "So I want to have a quick word with you," he began as he took uneven and hasty steps to close the gap between them.
But for every step he took forward, Jiwoo took two backwards. She needed that distance. After all who would help her now? Somin was on a date, Taehyung hated her... and Joker... okay who was she kidding, Joker's a cat. Not a superhero. Distance was her savior now. "Yes sir?" She replied less confidently. Her back hit the wall, and it dawned on Jiwoo that she had nowhere left to go.
"I overheard you and Somin and I know that money is tight for you." He continued as he closed the final gap. She could feel his sticky, hot breath on her neck. "So I'm willing, quite graciously, to give you a chance to earn some extra cash."
"No thank you.." She murmured. But the mans hands were wandering. He'd been right. Taehyung was right about everything. And now that he was right, and she could see it- feel it- he wasn't here to help her. Her hands reached for anything around her. It took her an agonizingly long time but her fingers finally fell on the tip jar that she'd brought back from the counter to empty. It's all an act of self defense, Jiwoo told herself as she strengthened her grip on the smooth glass. Her skin prickled and crawled where the van had or was touching her.
Finally, she slammed the jar over the mans head. Everything moved in slow motion as he clattered to the ground, glass falling all around him like snow. She stared in horror, the sounds of footsteps sounded from the cafe. Her heart stopped at the thought of a customer finding this scene, yet she was frozen in place. The locker door swung open and in came... came Taehyung.
Jiwoo felt like crying as he looked around at the messed up scene placed out around him. "Are you okay?" Now wasn't the time for an 'I told you so' so Taehyung didn't bother with it. He rushed over to Jiwoo holding her as she crumpled in his arms. "Relax, relax he's not dead." He reassured her.
"I know," Jiwoo murmured. "I'm just-"
Taehyung smiled, "yeah, no, I get it. Just breathe." She allowed herself to cry, to cry and cling to him.
"You were right." Jiwoo breathed, as she unlocked her knees letting her drag him down to the floor with her.
Taehyung shook his head, "this is not about right or wrong. I'm just glad you're okay."
"Why are you even here?" She sniffled, wiping her eyes.
Taehyung scratched the back of his head, "I meant to apologize... for upsetting you."
Jiwoo chuckled away her tears. She rested her head against Taehyung's shoulder, emotionally exhausted. She meant to reply to him when a hand grabbed her hair, pulling her head to the floor. Her head collided with the tiles sounding like a loud crack to her ears. She looked over to see her manager, with a fist full of her hair.
Taehyung was up instantly, hitting the man with a blow so hard that he fell to the floor unconscious. He dropped to his knees sliding across the floor to her. Her vision was blurring as she saw his hand cup her head. But he pulled it back, it was bloody. Jiwoo couldn't See straight, and keeping her eyes open was strenuous. So she gave up. And it went black.
AN/: is this a better cliffhanger? 😈
