"Starting today, we're going to work on a new project." The teacher announced to the half awake class.

Jiwoo sighed, "not another one."

The new kid, Taehyung, had seated himself beside her and leaned closer, "are the projects bad?"

Jiwoo nodded her head, "absolutely abysmal." She tapped her pencil against the desk. "Knowing Ms. Jennie the project's gonna be a group thing."

Taehyung sighed, withering in his seat. "Group?"

The pastel haired girl nodded her head, as the teacher continued to tell the class the assignments details. "I'll be nice this week and let you all choose your groups. But! Do not make me regret this. Inside voices. Just because you're teenagers doesn't mean you aren't still human beings!"

Jiwoo shot a look at Taehyung then. He paused a moment, then realizing what the girl meant, he nudged her arm, "what're you trying to say Late Girl."

She snickered, "I have a name."

"I'm aware. Your first name is Late. Your last name is Girl." Taehyung replied. Trying not to laugh too much, Jiwoo picked up her binder, threatening to hit the boy with it.

"Excuse me, Ms. Jeon, Mr. Kim, I would appreciate it if personal affairs remained outside of my classroom!" The teacher scolded then. The entire class went quiet, aside from a few snickers as most of the class turned to glare at the two in the back of the room.

Jiwoo slowly slid down in her chair, trying to cover up her red face. Seeing the girl shy away from the crow Taehyung cleared his throat. "I wish. No guy in the room is good enough for Late Girl, Ms. Jennie!" He called loud enough that his voice filled the whole room. The girls all made small sounds of approval, giving the new boy a second glance. While the guys all took a moment to inspect Jiwoo to see if she was as good as he made her out to be.

Ms. Jennie raised an eyebrow. "Well if you really feel that way, then you two will be a group." The hotheaded teacher turned back to the board scribbling down, 'Group 1: Jeon Jiwoo, Kim Taehyung'

Jiwoo sighed resting her head on her desk, staring at Taehyung.

"What now?" He joked, shooting her a sly look.

Jiwoo frowned, turning her head to look away from the snarky boy. "I hate you." She muttered.

"Sorry, I couldn't hear you." Taehyung replied.

Jiwoo sat up sighing even louder, the rest of the class was talking now and she could be as loud as she pleased. "I hate you, Kim Taehyung!" She muttered, glaring at the raven haired boy beside her.

Taehyung tilted his head to the side smiling, "I didn't know it was opposite day."

Jiwoo rolled her eyes, trying not to snicker, "you and your dumb friend are exactly alike." She muttered thinking back to Ashton leaving her his number the other night at the cafe.

Taehyung dropped his funny demeanor and turned to face Jiwoo. "What'd that idiot do this time?" He asked her with a hint of genuine concern.

The small girl rolled her eyes, examining her nails. "He slipped me this when he got your drinks." She handed him the white piece of coffee stained paper.

'Hit me up some time dollface ;) ***-***-**** ~Ashton'

Taehyung crumpled up the paper. With it still crumpled in his hand he got up and threw it away. When he sat down again Jiwoo was pouting, again.  "What?" He asked again.

Jiwoo turned up her nose, "hey what if I was interested!? You just ruined my chances at finally getting a guy."

"Finally?" Taehyung echoed with a tinge of disbelief.

Jiwoo shrugged, "what? Guys who aren't dirt bags are hard to come by these days." She looked Taehyung up and down who still glared at her, his mouth hung open slightly ajar.

He shook his head, "you don't have a boyfriend!?" He asked again, realizing he sounded like an idiot he tried to regain his composure.

Jiwoo shook her head casually. "I don't have to depend on anyone aside from myself. I've done it all my life basically. All I need is myself, my jobs, my cat, and Somin. Given I have all of those things, I'm set."

"Wait jobs!? Like multiple!? Don't your parents make all the money for you!?" Taehyung asked. It sounded absurd for a girl no older than him to be supporting herself and a cat all alone!

Jiwoo chuckled, "you didn't think I only worked the cafe part time did you? Oh, right, you're new. I don't really remember school stuff, I have too much work on my hands. Not everyone's super fortunate.... you gotta take care of yourself sometimes." She eyed Taehyung, "what about you? Those shoes are pretty expensive." She pointed out.

Taehyung looked down and cringed, "these? These are so old," he couldn't help but chuckle. He looked down at Jiwoo's shoes and stopped laughing. They were torn in multiple places and they were covered in gloriously colored duck tape. He sighed. "When was the last time you even bought shoes?"

Jiwoo shrugged, "the last time I needed them."

"Well you need some right now." Taehyung muttered. "You can't walk around wearing tape as shoes."

Jiwoo frowned, "Hey! Don't make fun of my shoes! They do their job!" She glared at Taehyung, "you're so annoying already. I take it I'll be doing all the work on this project?"

Taehyung shook his head, "I don' think you have space for more work."

"I don't, but I don't think you have the brain capacity to do any work." She fired back with a smirk.

Taehyung returned the look, "challenge excepted."

Jiwoo held out her hand, "if I do more work by the end of the week you call me by my real name."

Taehyung eyed her carefully, "you drive a hard bargain." He nodded his head, shaking her hand. "If I win... you uh..."

The girl sighed, "don't strain yourself now."

Taehyung sighed, "I'll let you know when I win."

"Uh huh. Sure thing princess."
