Katie

I locked the bathroom door behind me and gathered my hair up in a bun before stepping towards the scale. I slipped off my running shoes and stepped on.

And I quickly stepped off.

I'm not going to make it onto competition cheer. Not if every time I step on that stupid thing and the only change that happens is by one pound.

I have to change things.

Swallowing down frustration, I walked over to the medicine cabinet and grabbed the appetite suppressant pill bottle. Popping two in my mouth, I grabbed a handful of water and drank it down.

This way I won't think about food all day. I started taking it a few days ago, I'm not sure if it's working yet but it's better than nothing. It's better than Merida Winstead calling me fat in front of my friends.

The doornob to the bathroom jiggled before my mother called my name.

"I'm about to take a shower Mom," I called back.

"Well, hurry up, you need to eat breakfast before going to school."

"Ivy is picking me up, we're going to stop for breakfast on the way to school." I answered instantly.

"Oh, okay. Well, hurry anyways so you don't keep her waiting." She answers and I muttered an okay before stepping into the shower.

"Guess who is sleeping with who?" Ivy slid down next to me and I rose an eyebrow at her.

"What?"

"Bridget Miller and Todd Gills were found doing the deed at the party on Friday." She explained and my heart sank.

The same party where I danced with Adam Decker. The same Adam Decker who decided to not text me after he said he would.

"Okay, I know you were supposed to be much happier than that." Ivy rose an eyebrow at me and I let out a sigh.

"Sorry, my head isn't really here."

"Yeah, I know that." She rolled her eyes at me. "Wanna tell me why?"

"I don't know," I shrugged and her eyebrows pulled together.

"Okay," She drawled before standing up. "Wanna grab some lunch?"

"No I'm not really that hungry," I lied and she she frowned again, this time I knew it was out of concern.

"You didn't want Chick-fil-A either this morning when I went through drive through. Are you sick?"

"No, I told you that my mom made me a huge breakfast. I wasn't hungry." I lied again and she nodded.

"Yeah, but when have you ever turned down Chick-fil-A?"

"Since I'm in cheer season and I can't keep putting junk food in my body." I told her and she rolled her eyes.

"You and cheer, I swear," she shook her head.

"Let's go get lunch." She offered again and I opened my mouth to protest but she held her hand up to stop me. "Get something light, you'll need energy for practice."

She's right, and I am hungry.

"Fine." I stood up after her.

When I got in the lunch line, I convinced myself that eating something light won't do anything for me. I needed a good amount of food to keep my energy up. So, I ended up eating a serving of spaghetti with meat sauce, an apple, a chocolate pudding cup and half of Ivy's chicken quesadilla.
